Leo (Japanese: ペタシ Petaci) is a recurring character in the Pokémon Adventures manga.

History

Black & White arc

Leo debuted in Hallway Hijinks. He was first seen as a competitor in the Pokémon League. After battling through Victory Road, Leo made it to the quarterfinal round as part of the Top 8. His opponent in this round was Cheren, who easily defeated him in battle. Despite the loss, Leo tried congratulating his opponent for his victory, only to be coldly ignored when Cheren left to wait for his next match.

Despite how Cheren treated him previously, in Something Suspicious, Leo was seen cheering Cheren on in his next match. Leo was soon approached by White, who asked why Leo continued to support the one who beat him. Due to his inability to talk to girls, Leo was immediately flustered by White's presence and ran away. After regaining some of his composure, Leo revealed he wanted Cheren to win simply because he lost to Cheren in their match.

In Triple Threat, Leo joined Cedric Juniper and Looker in helping Black in his final battle against N. As Cheren had lost to Black in the tournament, Leo stated he wanted to help the person who beat the one who beat him. The three tried attacking N's Zekrom, but it easily blocked their Pokémon's attacks and swatted them away.

Black 2 & White 2 arc

Two years later, Leo is now a first-year student at the Aspertia City Trainers' School alongside Blake, Whitley, Hugh, Yuki, Yuko, and Maya. At the school dormitories, Leo shares a room with Hugh despite the latter already living in Aspertia City.

In The Transfer Student, Leo was seen watching Blake break up with his latest girlfriend, Yancy. They immediately went to class due to running late. Upon arriving, Blake and Leo tried sneaking into class, only to be chastised by Hugh, who told them off for constantly fooling around since the school year began. The commotion angered the new teacher, who, to Leo's surprise, was Cheren. Despite remembering each other, Cheren still punished the three by forcing them to sit outside while class was in session. Later that day, Cheren organized an exhibition match between the male and female students. Leo faced off against Hugh in the match, but was defeated.

In Choir Tournament, Leo competed in the Autumn Choir Tournament as a member of Team Jigglypuff alongside Blake, Whitley, Hugh, Yuki, Yuko, and Maya. Due to his lack of musical talent, Leo was left nervous and worried that he would hold back his team. After meeting Hugh's sister, Leo's nervous reaction caused him to let out a voice that allowed him to assist his team members. Eventually, Team Jigglypuff emerged as the victors of the tournament. As a reward for their performance, Roxie had her father take the winning team and their class to Castelia City to participate in the Unova Choir Tournament.

In Angry Boy, Pop Roxie's boat reached its destination. Leo tried leaving, but ended up running into Hugh's sister, who almost fell overboard after seeing Leo's Deino. Despite his fear of girls, Leo managed to grab Hugh's sister and pulled her back up with Deino's help. Hugh's sister thanked Leo and revealed that she has a fear of Deino due to being attacked by one some time ago. Leo apologized for the trouble and assured Hugh's sister that his Deino wasn't a bad Pokémon and offered to let her pet it. They were interrupted by Hugh, who begged Leo not to tell anyone that his sister boarded the ship without permission. After getting off the boat, Leo and Hugh attempt to sneak away while being careful to let no one see Hugh's sister with them. At Castelia City, Roxie discovered a member of the executive committee for the Unova Choir Competition. The executive revealed that a group of villains attacked him and stole his Karrablast in an attempt to "liberate" it. Recognizing the term, Hugh flies into a rage and told Leo to take care of his sister while he, Blake, Whitley, and Roxie headed off to stop the villains.

In PS545, Leo and Hugh's sister traveled through the Relic Passage to escape from the ice created by Team Plasma freezing various cities in Unova with their flying ship, the Plasma Frigate. After exiting, they arrived at the Pokémon World Tournament construction site, where they were approached by Elesa. The Nimbasa Gym Leader revealed Cheren and his class were safe at the Marine Tube and that she and Skyla were tasked with finding the students that were still missing, including Blake and Hugh. Just as Hugh's sister began to worry for her brother's safety, Leo received a call from Hugh on his Xtransceiver, revealing he was safe and busy elsewhere.

Character

Leo is a young Trainer resembling a combination of the Youngster and Poké Maniac Trainer classes. He appears to be very friendly, as he praised Cheren for defeating him in their match at the Unova League. Despite this, Leo is terrible at talking to women and will often get flustered when around one.

Zweilous is Leo's only known Pokémon. It was first seen as a Deino battling a Trainer's Seismitoad at the Unova Pokémon League and won. It faced Cheren's Unfezant in the quarterfinals, but was easily defeated. During the battle with N, Deino was used to attack N's Zekrom, only to be easily swatted away and caught by its Trainer. In PS545, it was revealed to have evolved into a Zweilous due to battling wild Pokémon in the Relic Passage.

Zweilous's only known move is Bite, and its Ability is Hustle.

Leo has at least two other Pokémon, as he participated in the quarterfinals of the Unova Pokémon League, which requires a Single Battle involving three Pokémon.
