Silver Town

I was wondering if we ought to create a page for Silver Town? It's a pretty big place in the Animé, and it should probably get it's own page. If no one disagrees in the next few days, I'll create it. Mewtwo Ex 23:57, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

I have no qualms about creating a page about Silver Town. My only suggestion would be that when you name it, call it Silver Town (Johto) because there's also a Silver Town in Kanto. It's where May defeated Jeremy and won her second contest ribbon. Besides that, I definitely think Silver Town deserves its own article. --PAK Man 00:03, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

Okay so

That template's way too long. I'm planning on making a separate template for use in big, multiroom caves like Mt. Silver and Mt. Coronet. TTEchidna 22:38, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

True or False?

Pupitar can be found in Mt. Silver. If true, add to article. If false, remove from here. ht14 01:38, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

Shinto Ruins

The article for the Shinto Ruins is located within the Ruins of Alph article. If you ask me, the Shinto Ruins are clearly on top of a mountain; furthermore, it seems to me that the mountain that it is located on is a sacred mountain like Mt. Coronet. Mt. Fuji, which Mt. Silver is based off of, is probably the most famous sacred mountain in Japan. Furthermore, in the artwork for Ecruteak City in HGSS, Mt. Silver stands tall in the background. If you ask me, it seems evident that Shinto Ruins will be located on top of Mt. Silver, and I feel that perhaps we should move the Shinto Ruins article here, or at least say something about this in the Trivia. However, as we have no sufficient information regarding its location thus far, but shouldn't we, at the very least, make Shinto Ruins into its own article, instead of being part of the Ruins of Alph article? - unsigned comment from Kamikarasu (talkcontribs)

It's incorporated here because there is:
a) a lack of information; and
b) because the Shinto Ruins are accessed by taking Arceus to the Ruins of Alph.
It is prefered to have a smaller number of high-quality articles than a large number of articles with three or four sentences. —darklordtrom 23:46, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
Besides, if and when more information becomes known after the game's Japanese release, we can always split the Shinto Ruins into its own article at that time. --Shiningpikablu252 23:56, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

Pokémon of GSC

I think it's best for Pokémon found in GSC, to be kept. Put it in a spoiler and add HGSS in --Ruixiang95 03:10, 12 September 2009 (UTC)

We don't need a spoiler tag for that. HGSS data will come as we get it. —darklordtrom 03:14, 12 September 2009 (UTC)

HGSS Maps

The article's maps for the interior and exterior of the mountain continue to utilize the Generation II graphics. Is there a particular reason why they haven't been updated? This message brought to you by Glitchipedia, the falsified encyclopedia 18:40, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

Diamond Dust

The diamond dust affect the battle vs. Red, or not? --Gabo 2oo 15:20, 16 January 2010 (UTC)

Yes, the hail effect is gone, just a normal battle. Pokemonemerfan1954 17:45, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

Wrong trivia?

"In Generation IV, the battle music in Mt. Silver, as well as Silver Cave and Route 28 is changed to the Kanto style, while in Generation II, it stayed as Johto style. The same music for Victory Road, Route 26, Route 27 and Tohjo Falls is affected by this change as well, but only after defeating the Elite Four for the first time and boarding the S.S. Aqua."

I think that the music in Mt. Silver is the Johto one, and the Route 28 and all these areas use the Kanto music after the S.S. Aqua... At least i cheat to win the Elite Four and use the S.S Aqua and i notice that when i was in Route 28, the Kanto wild battle music is used, but just when i enter to Silver Cave i heard the Johto wild battle music. --Gabo 2oo 02:58, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Item List

It seems to me that the item list needs to be divided into GSC and HGSS sections, as the pokemon are and like other routes/locations are throughout this site. For example, in HGSS, an Expert Belt can be found here (in the Moltres cave), and the Expert Balt subsection on the held item list indicates it is found in Mt. Silver but is not on this page. The maps also definitely need to be updated. --Jdthebud 03:54, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

Pure Incense can also be found, but is not listed here. --Lustre 06:49, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
You can edit the page if you want to... —darklordtrom 07:22, 5 June 2010 (UTC)

Pokédex location

When viewed in the Pokédex, Mt. Silver is shown as a Kanto location, for example, if you look up Rapidash, it is not shown as a Johto location, but a Kanto one. Is it already in the article? Pokemonemerfan1954 17:47, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

Generation 4 Pokemon

Let me start off by saying that I am a regular visitor to Mt. Silver (both grass and cave) for training purposes with my SS game. After taking a look at the Mt. Silver Pokemon section, though, I was rather perturbed by the fact that all the catch rates regarding the outside grass area and other sections of the Mt. Silver cave are missing.

My point: you can't get Ponyta, Rapidash, Doduo, Dodrio, or Tangela inside the cave, so why aren't they represented in an outside area section just like in Generation II? Is it just that nobody has gotten around to it yet?

I've already started keeping track of SS information and will have it posted as soon as I start getting really definite numbers for all of the areas in SS. I have access to HG info, too, and will gladly post it when I get solid numbers. (You all can email me your numbers, too, if you'd like! :) )--Tybear009 02:06, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

Try and do that if you want, but it's best to do it the way we already do—look at the game data and retrieve it. By playing, you can miss some levels, and you certainly won't be able to give encounter rates. --SnorlaxMonster 04:06, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

Layout

Akurochan has uploaded really good maps of Mt. Silver in HGSS to the Archives. These need to be implemented into this page. The question is, how? Mt. Silver was pretty much completely redesigned for HGSS, making a comparison between the Gen II and Gen IV sprites nigh-on-impossible. Add in the fact that it has multiple interiors and exteriors, and you have a situation where making a template to display these maps would be an almost Herculean labor. So is anyone up to this? --AndyPKMN 13:09, 9 October 2010 (UTC)

Um... It's been more than a month. Does anyone have any ideas? --AndyPKMN (talk) 23:03, 14 November 2010 (UTC)
When all else fails, just display it in a gallery. If I have time, I'll put it into fancier table. Jellotalk 23:21, 14 November 2010 (UTC)

I added what I could to the gallery, but we seem to be missing some (such as the entrance area by the Pokémon Center and the summit with Red). --AndyPKMN (talk) 11:46, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

Gen IV Encounter Rates

It's literally impossible for those encounter rates to be correct... anybody have the real stats? Sidnoea 23:20, 12 December 2010 (UTC)

Extra Trivia

Could the fact that Red standing on the summit of Mt. Silver be a reference to the Rainbow song "Man on the Silver Mountain"? Videogames4all 21:13, 2 June 2012 (UTC)

Encounter rates

A bunch of encounter rates on this page are wrong for Crystal (GS are fine and I just fixed HGSS). The majority of sections do not total to 100%. Here are the totals for each subsection, at present.

--SnorlaxMonster 14:29, 9 August 2015 (UTC)

Are we allowed to copy data from serebii (which seems correct), and would explain the erroneous encounter rates? Xolotl (talk) 14:43, 9 August 2015 (UTC)
We are not. --SnorlaxMonster 08:01, 11 August 2015 (UTC)
Shame, because they probably are correct. Xolotl (talk) 10:29, 11 August 2015 (UTC)

Pokemon Stadium 2 information

Are Red's teams from Pokemon Stadium 2 really supposed to be here? sumwun (talk) 18:10, 28 April 2018 (UTC)

The second paragraph of the article: "A field based on Mt. Silver also appears in Pokémon Stadium 2's Kanto Gym Leader Castle.".--ForceFire 03:16, 29 April 2018 (UTC)
Okay thanks. sumwun (talk) 03:33, 29 April 2018 (UTC)

Split

In the games, this is actually two locations: The area at the foot of the mountain (Mt. Silver) and the mountain itself (Mt. Silver Cave). I think the two locations should have separate articles. The article is already quite large, so such a split would help reduce the size somewhat. --SnorlaxMonster 14:26, 8 June 2019 (UTC)

I support this suggestion. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 14:43, 8 June 2019 (UTC)
I'm not so sure. On one hand, we have separate articles for other locations that are to different locations what "Mt. Silver Cave" and "Mt. Silver" are to each other (e.g. Mt. Moon Square, Bellchime Trail, Verity Lakefront, the Iron Ruins, Plains Grotto). A split would therefore be consistent with what's done elsewhere on the wiki. On the other hand, there's no real difference between Mt. Silver and other locations that have both interior and exterior areas that can be explored (e.g. the Ruins of Alph, Mt. Ember, Iron Island, Stark Mountain, Reversal Mountain). The only difference here is that the game goes out of its way to remind us that the interior is indeed a cave. It doesn't even get a special name. ~ Dannyboy601 (talk) 03:38, 9 June 2019 (UTC)
I'm not sure whether this is really in favour or against the split, but I would like to point out that in HGSS, while climbing the mountain even the exterior and summit are called "Mt. Silver Cave". It's only the foot of the mountain (with the Pokémon Center) that is called "Mt. Silver". --SnorlaxMonster 03:47, 9 June 2019 (UTC)
That's personally my reason to support this idea. In GSC, the entire location is labeled as "Silver Cave", but in HGSS, the exterior and the interior have different labels. I'd see that as a good enough reason for a split. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 07:29, 9 June 2019 (UTC)
So, if I've understood correctly, there was just one location called "Silver Cave" in GSC, which HGSS then split into "Mt. Silver" (just the foot of the mountain) and "Mt. Silver Cave" (everything else, including other exterior portions)? I think I'd be in favour of a split if it weren't for the weird and potentially confusing names that the two pages would have. ~ Dannyboy601 (talk) 13:33, 9 June 2019 (UTC)
