Mt. Chimney (Japanese: えんとつやま Mt. Chimney) is a landmark in the Hoenn region.
In Pokémon Sapphire, Team Aqua steal a meteorite from the Meteor Falls and put it in a machine with the intention of causing the volcano to become dormant. In Pokémon Ruby, Team Magma steal a meteorite from the Meteor Falls and put it in a machine with the intention of reactivating the volcano. The situation in Pokémon Emerald is initially the same as in Pokémon Ruby. However, Team Magma has a base within the volcano, which is where Groudon makes its home prior to its battle against Kyogre. Mt. Chimney is accessible via the cable car, and leads on to Jagged Pass.
After Team Aqua or Team Magma are stopped, Lava Cookies are available for purchase from an old lady for $200 at the top of Mt. Chimney. Also, several trainers appear around the crater and are available for battle.
Mt. Chimney was the location for the episode Fight For the Meteorite. The situation was the same as in the games except that the Meteor Falls were not visited and Ash and Professor Cozmo were both at the mountain at the time.
Geographic
Possibly based on Mount Aso, an active volcano in Aso, Kumamoto prefecture, Kyushu.
Story
Pokémon Ruby
When the main character stumbles upon Team Magma in Meteor Falls, a plot is discovered that involves a Meteorite stolen from Professor Cozmo, and Mt. Chimney, which is where the Magma grunts rush off to immediately when Team Aqua also appears. Archie, the Aqua Leader, implores the main character's help, then follows Magma in pursuit. The chase eventually arrives at Mt. Chimney, where Archie and his grunts are found outnumbered by Magma. The main character is forced to help and battles a grunt, an admin and eventually the Magma Boss himself.
