Location Location of Four Island in Sevii Islands. |
Four Island (Japanese: 4のしま Island 4) is a small town located on the south-west side of Four Island. It is the most isolated of the seven cities of the Sevii Islands, as there are no routes connecting to it.
The town is notable for being the home of Lorelei, a member of the original Kanto Elite Four. To reach this island, the player must have the Rainbow Pass, instead of the ordinary Tri-Pass.
Places of interest
Pokémon Day Care
- Main article: Pokémon Day Care
Four Island is the home to one of the two Pokémon Day-Care Centers of FireRed and LeafGreen. As the other Day Care on Route 5 only allows for one Pokémon to be raised at a time, Pokémon breeding is impossible until the player has reached Four Island.
Move Tutor
A man on the island will offer to teach one of the player's Pokémon Body Slam, formerly TM08 in Generation I.
Icefall Cave
- Main article: Icefall Cave
The easternmost side of Four Island houses the entrance to Icefall Cave. Unlike the normally tropical and warm climate of the other Sevii Islands, Icefall Cave is extremely cold. HM07 (Waterfall) can be found here. This is the place where Lorelei caught her very first Pokémon, a Lapras.
Lorelei's house
Lorelei, a member of the original Kanto Elite Four, lives in Four Island. She grew up on the island, even catching her first Pokémon in the local Icefall Cave. Her house is located on the eastern side of the town and features her collection of stuffed Pokémon dolls. Initially, there are six dolls, but Lorelei will add a new doll to her collection for every 25 times the player enters the Hall of Fame. After 200 total victories, the house will contain 14 dolls and no additional dolls will appear.
Braggart's House
Located next door to the Poké Mart, the Braggart hands Trainer Card Stickers to Trainers who have made accomplishments in the games. There are three different stickers, with four levels each:

FireRed & LeafGreen arc
Four Island first appeared in A Beastly Cold Reception, where Red, Blue, and Bill hid inside Lorelei's house after she had narrowly helped them to escape from the Three Beasts of Team Rocket inside Icefall Cave. Soon after, the Three Beasts sent out a television broadcast, announcing that they would launch an attack across the Sevii Islands unless the Pallet Town Pokédex holders were turned over to them. As such, Red, Blue, and Lorelei headed out to stop them in the following chapter.
Trivia
- The background music used in Four Island is a remix of the music used for Azalea Town and Blackthorn City. In Generation II, the Pokémon Day Care on Route 34 also used this music.
- Four Island is one of only three cities or towns in the core series games that are not connected to a route. The other two are Unova's Anville Town and Kalos's Kiloude City.
- In the fenced area outside the Pokémon Day Care (which is inaccessible to the player except by walking through walls), there is no wild Pokémon encounter programmed in the tall grass.
