Forecast (Japanese: てんきや Weatherman) is an ability introduced in Generation III. Only one Pokémon has this ability.
Effect
In battle
During weather conditions, Forecast will change the type of the Pokémon with this ability.
The type of a Pokémon with this ability will change as follows:
- It will become Fire-type if it is sunny.
- It will become Ice-type if it is hailing.
- It will become Water-type if it is raining.
- It will return to being Normal-type if there is a sandstorm, it is foggy, Shadow Sky is in effect, the weather returns to normal, or a Pokémon with Cloud Nine or Air Lock comes onto the field.
This ability is made specifically for Castform, so if other Pokémon obtains this ability, it will have no effect. Conversely, if Castform loses Forecast, it will be stuck in whatever form it was in at the time.
Outside of battle
Forecast has no effect outside of battle.
