The Ancient Koraidon ex Starter Deck & Build Set (Japanese: スターターデッキ&ビルドセット「古代のコライドンex」) and the Future Miraidon ex Starter Deck & Build Set (Japanese: スターターデッキ&ビルドセット「未来のミライドンex」) are a pair of Asia-exclusive Pokémon Trading Card Game products. They were released in Japanese on January 26, 2024 (alongside the dual Wild Force and Cyber Judge expansions), and in Korean on February 24, 2024.
An equivalent product comprising only the Starter Decks, namely the Ancient Koraidon ex Starter Deck and the Future Miraidon ex Starter Deck, are released in other Asian territories outside Japan, namely in Traditional Chinese on February 2, 2024, in Thai on March 29, 2024, and in Indonesian on April 26, 2024.
Information
Coinciding with the start of a new regulation block were two boxes focusing on the Ancient and Future mechanics that debuted in the Ancient Roar and Future Flash expansions. Each box contains a fixed selection of 228 cards: a 60-card deck plus 168 cards to help build and enhance it. The decks center around Legendary Paradox Pokémon Koraidon and Miraidon, which are included as new Dragon-type Pokémon ex cards and respectively support the Ancient and Future mechanics. Of the 168 deck building cards, there are 12 Pokémon cards, 38 Trainer cards, and 6 Special Energy cards. Many of these are the same between the two boxes, and offer competitively viable cards sourced from both the Sword & Shield Era and the Scarlet & Violet Era. Of note is the inclusion of an ACE SPEC Master Ball card, which along with the ACE SPEC cards in the Wild Force and Cyber Judge expansions, mark the return of the mechanic after nearly 11 years. The remaining 112 cards consist of multiples of Basic Energy cards.
Each Starter Deck & Build Set also includes a sheet of damage counters and status markers, a unique coin, a VSTAR marker, a playmat, a player's guide, and a card with deck modification tips.
In other Asian territories outside Japan (namely Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, and Indonesia), only the Starter Decks were released as standalone products, namely Ancient Koraidon ex Starter Deck and Future Miraidon ex Starter Deck. These Starter Decks have nearly the same composition as their Japanese equivalents, with the only difference being the set numbers due to the reduced number of cards, as well as the addition of 1 Lumineon V in each deck, replacing 1 Nemona. The Traditional Chinese release includes the deck, a sheet of damage counters, a player's guide, a coin, and a playmat. The Thai and Indonesian releases do not include the coin and playmat.
All cards that debuted in these products were localized and released in the Temporal Forces expansion.
