Heat Wave (Japanese: ねっぷう Hot Wind) is a damage-dealing Template:Type2 move introduced in Generation III.

Effect

Heat Wave inflicts damage and has a 10% chance of burning the target. Heat Wave hits both opposing Pokémon in double battles.

Arcanine Arcanine opens its mouth and a white flame is created in it. Arcanine then releases a round orange flame at the opponent.

Torkoal Torkoal opens its mouth and creates a ball of orange fire in its mouth. It then releases a wind of flames at the opponent from the ball.

Trivia

  • Unusually, many Template:Type2 Pokémon can learn Heat Wave by Platinum move tutor, despite it being a Template:Type2 move. However, this may be because Heat Wave's Japanese name contains the word "wind".
  • With the exception of Mew and Arceus, Vibrava and Flygon are the only Pokémon who can learn this move by tutoring that are not Flying nor Fire type.
