- Main article: Pokémon food
Chimecho eat berries, which they pluck using their long tails. They seem to like the Colbur Berry since they are sometimes found with it.
In the anime
James has a Chimecho that was obtained in Who's Flying Now? at the Fortree City Feather Carnival. It said its name in the Team Rocket motto right after Jessie's Wobbuffet, and James cherished it so much that he did not allow it to battle. In Sweet Baby James, James left his Chimecho with an elderly couple to recover from illness at his old vacation home in Saffron City.
A Chimecho appears in the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time & Darkness special in the Wigglytuff Guild.

Trivia
- Despite what Chimecho's Pokédex entries state, it doesn't learn Hyper Voice.
- Chimecho's index number is the very last in the Generation III games (excluding glitch Pokémon, and Unown forms), even after Deoxys. This may imply that Chimecho was added late into the games development.
- Coincidently, Chimecho's National Pokédex number and the number of the episode it first appeared in and the one James caught it, are the same: 358.
Origin
Chimecho is based on a Japanese wind chime.
Name origin
Chimecho's name is a combination of chime and echo.
Chirean is based on ちりん chirin, the Japanese onomatopoeia of a chime and 風鈴 fūrin, wind chime.
In other languages
- German: Palimpalim - Alludes to a very popular German comedy-sketch which starts with someone shouting "Palimpalim!" to mimic a doorbell.
- French: Eoko - A corruption of écho, and possibly a pun on hé oh!, a commonly used surprised interjection.
- Korean: 치렁 Chireong
