Route 7

The Celadon-Lavender Underground has been closed indefinitely by Celadon Police due to excessive battling in the tunnel, but it isn't needed to bypass Saffron's guards anyway. This route is the first chance you'll have to find two Dark-type Pokémon (Murkrow and Houndour) if you pass through here overnight. Walk north through the tall grass to find a Mental Herb.

Celadon City

Welcome to Celadon! The city still hosts the same attractions it did three years ago, though the Game Corner no longer conceals a criminal hideout. Follow the path behind the Poké Center to find TM67 (Recycle) off to the west.

Celadon Condominiums

Celadon Condominiums rooftop

The Celadon Condominiums (formerly Celadon Mansion) now has two elevators and a new rooftop area. If you take the elevator from the first floor to the third floor, Lyra (game) / Ethan (game) will show up and explain that this building is home to the Game Freak staff. Return here once you earn all 16 Badges, and one of them will reward you with the GB Sounds, which lets you changes the game's music to the original tracks from Gold and Silver. To reach the roof, take the stairs from the first floor to the second floor, then take the elevator to the roof. If you listen to the guy's "terrifying tale" at night, he will give you the Spell Tag.

Celadon Diner

If you visit the Celadon Diner in the city's southern section, you'll see Maylene, the Gym Leader of Veilstone City in Sinnoh, participating in an eat-a-thon contest. Besides this cameo, there isn't anything here (unlike Generation II, where players could find Leftovers in a trash can).

Celadon Dept Store

The Celadon Department Store is still a prominent feature in the city, selling anything a Trainer could need. Crasher Wake, Gym Leader of Sinnoh's Pastoria City, also makes a cameo. Talk to him on the second floor, and he will give you three Mask accessories, one for each of the three Sinnoh starters (Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup).

Game Corner

Just like in the previous games, the Celadon Game Corner is still available for use. Unlike three years ago the Game Corner is no longer affiliated with Team Rocket. Its prize selection of TM's and Pokémon are different from the selection at the Goldenrod Game Corner, though the held items are the same. This is notably the only place to find a Porygon.

Just like the one at Goldenrod City, the Celadon Game Corner also had it's slot machines replaced by the Voltorb Flip for all the non-Japanese versions of Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver. Regardless though, the rules are the same as the Goldenrod Game Corner. The details for the rules of the Voltorb Flip can be found here.

Celadon Gym

The all-female Celadon Gym is a haven for Grass-types, so your Fire-, Flying-, and Ice-types will have little resistance. Avoid bringing Water-, Ground-, and Rock-types (unless they are higher-leveled), or they won't last very long. The Gym has been redesigned to create an overhead maze of archways that open in only two directions. If you want to fight every Gym Trainer, cut down the center tree at the front of the Gym to reach Twins Jo & Zoe.

In order to reach Erika, from the entrance:

1. Walk along the eastern wall to fight Lass Michelle, and enter the archway next to her
2. Follow the path north along the eastern wall and fight Picnicker Tanya
3. Approach Beauty Julia from the south, so she steps away from the central cuttable tree (otherwise, maneuver to the cuttable tree on the far left
4. Cut down the central tree, and walk through the last archway to find Erika

Three of Erika's Pokémon know Sunny Day, which allows her Bellossom to use SolarBeam without charging, and enhances her Bellossom's and Victreebel's Synthesis. Additionally, all four of her Pokémon have Chlorophyll as their ability, which doubles their speed in sunlight, making them very hard to outspeed. However, your Fire-type Pokémon can use the weather to power up their attacks and turn the sunlight against them, so bring along Pokémon with strong Fire-type attacks.

After her defeat, Erika awards you the Rainbow Badge. She also gives you TM19 (Giga Drain) as a prize.
