The Ruined World (Japanese: やぶれたせかい Torn World) is a location in Pokémon Platinum. The Ruined World will have a major impact on the game's plot as Giratina inhabits this world. The Ruined World is located above Spear Pillar, and utilizes more of the game's 3D capabilities, as floors and walls are able to be traversed in many different angles and seem to spin around in different ways. It has floor-like sections floating at ninety-degree angles from each other, creating an effect similar to the art of M. C. Escher. If Giratina is brought into the Ruined World it will assume its Origin Forme, but when it leaves the Ruined World, Giratina will change back into Another Forme. Giratina can be changed into its Origin Forme outside of the Ruined World via the Platinum Orb.

During the player's first trip to the Ruined World in Pokémon Platinum, Mesprit, Azelf and Uxie will guide them around, even helping them in the Strength puzzle.

Geography

The Ruined World is said to be another universe or world parallel to the Pokémon world with a gateway to it only located at the top of Mt. Coronet and also Turnback Cave.

It is a dark place with floor-like sections floating at many different angles. The world disobeys the Laws of Physics, allowing the player to walk and surf on walls in any direction. The only Pokémon to inhabit the Ruined World is Giratina.
