Walkthrough:Pokémon Scarlet and Violet/Part 10

Returning to Team Star Schedar Squad's Base

After taking down Iono, you will want to go back the way you came towards the Fire-type Team Star Schedar Squad's Base. The leader here is Mela, and like Giacomo, you’ll need at least three different Pokémon capable of taking on Fire-types in order to take down her base. To get back to Mela’s base you can either fly directly back to the East Province (Area One) Pokémon Center, but it’s better to take the long way back and activate the fly point on the East Province (Area Two) Pokémon Center.

Marill, Magikarp, and Drednaw are abundant in the surrounding area, so if you are lacking Fire-type resistances these are good choices with a bit of training. If you don’t fancy these, you can find Mareanie on the beach just south of Levincia.

Entering the Ring of Fire

As you approach the Mela’s base Clive will talk to you. He’ll explain to you that he’s worried about the members of Team Star, and thinks that they’ve been bullied. He is worried about the level of truancy, particularly of the leaders who haven’t been to school in a year. Cassiopeia will interrupt your conversation with another phone call and tell you to be careful.

As you approach the gates another grunt will challenge you, but as they only have one Pokémon it shouldn’t be too difficult.

Following the battle, Clive will come back and introduce you to Charlos the Charcadet, a Pokémon that hangs out at the academy. Clive will chase after Charlos and Casseopeia will call again. They will tell you a bit about Mela and her crew. Once you have healed your Pokémon, and put your three best fire tamers at the front of your party, you’re ready to take on the Let’s Go battles.

Star Barrage

For the three versus thirty Let’s Go battles there is less type variation than at the Dark-type base, making them easier to counter with a combination of Ground-, Rock- and Water-type moves.

VS Mela

As soon as you take down the rest of her Fire Crew, Mela will challenge you. Not only does she open with her Drought Torkoal that will power up her Starmobile’s moves, but it has Clear Smog, meaning that you can’t set up on it. The harsh sunlight will expire after five turns, so it might be worth waiting it out and keeping the Torkoal in battle until it expires. Torkoal has low Special Defense, so any Special Attacker should do well here.

Speed Boost means that Mela’s Starmobile can quickly get out of hand. It’s best to lean into being slower, boost your Defense and allow the Starmobile to lower its own Special Attack with Overheat. Its signature move Blazing Torque has a 30% chance to burn so make sure you heal this off any Physical Attacker before you throw a punch.

After you defeat Mela, you’ll be treated to another cutscene explaining about her past. She will give you TM038 Flame Charge, which is a Fire-type move that raises your Speed. Clive and Charlos will then approach Mela, and they both ask her to come back to school.

Once outside the base Cassiopeia calls you again, and sends you 6,000 LP. They also unlock more TMs at the TM Machine and Penny will approach to deliver more Pokémon Materials. With the Fire Base defeated you are now ready to take on the Titan Orthworm and power up.
