Walkthrough:Pokémon Legends: Z-A/Part 5

Charms and crystals

When you wake up, going to the lobby will trigger Main Mission 05: The City in the Shadow of the Prism Tower. Outside you meet Tarragon who will give you a Red Canari Plush, an item that will increase your earned EXP a little. They will also tell you about collecting Colorful Screws (the purple items in the overworld) to exchange them for charms.

Urbain/Taunie will direct you to a ladder covered in Mega Crystals. Breaking it will reward you with Mega Shards, which we can’t use quite yet but will need for later. They can be destroyed using any damaging Pokémon move.

Going wild

Follow Urbain/Taunie up the ladder and over the bridge and they will show you Prism Tower, and direct you towards Wild Zone 2. You can explore this area as little or as much as you want before heading over to meet Urbain/Taunie outside of the food truck.

We can’t change the time of day yet, so you’ll need to come back later if you want to snag a Staryu. However, the five others are available from the start.

Fist of Justice

While drinking a coffee at the truck, you’ll be introduced to Vinnie, secretary to the CEO of Quasartico Inc.. Urbain/Taunie then wants to go to the Looker Bureau to meet up with Emma. On the way you'll pass by Centrico Pokémon Center, so head inside to pick up the travel point. As you arrive Urbain/Taunie is distracted by a ruckus at Rouge Plaza.

There you'll meet Ivor from the Fist of Justice who wants the Pokémon to run free of the Wild Zones. Another member of Ivor’s clan, Josée, challenges you to a fight. She has a level 10 Machop and a level 11 Meditite, which should be easy to take down with your Fletchling. Once defeated you will be free to explore Wild Zone 3. You can find TM022 Aerial Ace if you go up the stairs in the zone to the higher level of the building. You should also pick up a Pikachu here, as you’ll need one for an upcoming side mission.

Side Missions

You then need to head over to the Looker Bureau and meet up with Emma. She asks you to help out with her detective work, and this work is what makes up the game's side missions. There are three side missions to start with, and you need to complete them all in order to continue your journey. Emma will mark their locations on the map so you can start.

Side Mission 001: A Big Ol’ Bunnelby

Once given this quest, follow the man into the alley to enter a fight with an Alpha Bunnelby. It’s only level 10 but it is much stronger and bulkier than a standard Bunnelby of the same level. Once defeated you’ll be given $400 and 2 Fresh Water.

Side Mission 002: A Use for an Evolution Stone

The second side mission is the easiest. This is where you can trade the Pikachu we picked up in Wild Zone 3 for a Heracross named Bois. You’ll be rewarded with $800, 5 Poké Balls and 3 Potions for your efforts.

Side Mission 003: Sabeleye in the Cemetery

For the last mission, we have to find a ring in the Dormez Bien Cemetery in Wild Zone 4. After you enter the area, investigate the barren patch of land to battle Sableye and get the ring back. You can catch the Sableye after you defeat it, but be warned that you’ll only have one chance at it so we recommend that you use a Great Ball. You can catch a different Sableye later on though, so don’t worry if it breaks out.

After you return to the woman with the ring you'll receive $4000 and 2 Revive as a reward. You can also pick up TM072 Fire Spin in the Wild Zone if you use a Fire-type move or a cutting move like Razor Leaf on the thorns. Now we’ve finished our three quests, it's time to return to Emma.

Detective Work

When you return to Emma at the Looker Bureau, Urbain/Taunie tells you that she is helping them find someone. Emma then tells you about Mega Evolution, and that it’s a huge part of life in Lumiose City. Follow her outside and she’ll ask you to battle. She has just one Pokémon, a level 15 Mareep.

Once you’ve taken her down, she’ll show you her Mega Ampharos and explain that Mega Evolution makes your Pokémon stronger but doesn’t last very long. She also asks you to look out for a black, four-legged Pokémon. With that Main Mission 05: The City in the Shadow of Prism Tower is completed.
