Talk pages for Robot Chicken skit guides: Pokémon Bloopers Pikachu Secret

The goal of Encyclopaediae Pokémonis is to be just as international as Pokémon itself, and helping aspiring Pokémon wikis in languages we don't yet have is a great way to help achieve that goal. However, if we don't even know who the possible aspirers for Encyclopaediae Pokémonis's ninth language even are, there's no way any growth can take place. If you speak or understand a language that's currently not represented in Encyclopaediae Pokémonis and happen to find a wiki in that language with aspirations to join Encyclopaediae Pokémonis, then don't hesitate to drop me a line. Remember, an aspirier can't grow if they remain sheltered from the world!

If you understand Brazilian Portuguese, or know someone who does, then the Portuguese arm of Encyclopaediae Pokémonis is in desperate need of your assistance. Many, if not all, of that wiki's articles are in dire need of improvement, be it massive cleanup or even adding some real content to begin with. Their sysops are never around to handle things, and their interwiki bot has done nothing since late September--of 2008. The fact that a trusted member of Encyclopaediae Pokémonis has fallen into such disrepair is disturbing, to say the least. Brazilians do not deserve quality this low. If you can help improve the Portuguese end, then I highly recommend you do so. Today.

Question about an edit summary

Here you said you had to use Google to check if Ho-oh or Ho-Oh is used. But last time I used Google I couldn't search capped and uncapped terms, because they give the same results. So tell me how do you do that? TheBlazikenMaster 15:26, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

I used Internet Explorer's page-search function in tandem with the Google search. In IE's Find dialog box, I typed what I was searching for, in this case Ho-oh, then checked the "Match case" field, then scanned the results from there. This made weeding out the sore thumbs near-seamless.
The reason I had to use Google in the first place was because Bulbapedia's own search function can't handle words under four letters, and it doesn't recognize Ho-Oh as one word regardless of how it's capped. --Shiningpikablu252 21:09, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Edit Frequency

Sorry, I don't exactly have the National Dex memorized. --Dawnfan47

With 493 species around, who would? Is it possible for you to go between windows in your browser? If so, then I'd recommend having a dex list open in one. This makes things a whole lot easier.
Sh*t, it's so difficult to memorize the National Dex these days even I had to look up a few species when finishing that project. --Shiningpikablu252 23:19, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Good chance

[Brock's Marshtomp[1]] has a good chance of being a Male. The reason is that it is a starter's evolution, which has an 87.5% chance of being male! And, i said there was a chance!!! And, it is a 100% chance that I still don't know how to make the right kind of link!

"A good chance" doesn't cut it around here. Either it's confirmed or it's not. And Brock's Marshtomp's gender is unconfirmed due to lack of hard evidence, both on its own end and on the end of that Flaaffy it went gaga over. Besides, May's Bulbasaur has the same good odds to be male, yet it's a confirmed female--in fact, it's May's only confirmed-gender Pokémon. --Shiningpikablu252 02:11, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

Card Game DP4 Page

User:Double Dash/Pokémon Card Game DP4 is the page so far in my userspace. Let me know if there's anything else I could do to add into it, then if it's good, I'll take steps to making the page (though I still don't know who to contact or what to call the page). Double Dash 10:41, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

Hey, it's Theryguy512. I got a request/question for you. I know that you're always making TCG articles and make them quickly and well, and since the article count is almost 8,000, I have a question. Recently, I have been working on a Team Rocket's Mecha page in my sandbox. Since it is a much needed page and deserves some mention, I was wondering if you'ld help me make it the 8,000 article. Can you please notify me when the article count reaches 7,990, and then when you (or someone else if they happen to make it) make the 7,999 article, allow me to make the Mecha page? I know this is a strange request, but I would appreciate it if you helped me. Thank you, --Theryguy512 23:11, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

I can't make any guarantees, but I'll do what I can. --Shiningpikablu252 23:15, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
KK Thanks. I know the list won't be complete in time, but hey, neither was the boss fantasy list when it was started. --Theryguy512 23:18, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
Looks like you missed the boat. 8000 has come and gone. And with no candidates for deletion, odds are you're best off not waiting for 9000 or 10,000. --Shiningpikablu252 04:45, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
Yes, but a page became a redirect, which made the count 7999. I then made my page, the 8000. --Theryguy512 11:59, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

Maybe it's just your computer, it's loading my talk page just fine... and I've got Photoshop and a couple tabs open. Tina 02:54, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

Maybe it was just that revision and anything associated with it that caused the crashes...--Shiningpikablu252 02:59, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
Great, now your talk page is crashing my browser again. I wonder what's causing it? --Shiningpikablu252 03:03, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
Hmm... odd. What browser are you using at the moment? Weirder, is that I archived my talk page recently and it only takes a second or two to load on my computer.. Tina 03:12, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
Internet Explorer 6. Anything with a revision number of 296091 (03:07 UTC on 8 February 2008 by Ph34r4ever) or earlier loads just fine, but go higher than 296091 and it's liable to crash. --Shiningpikablu252 03:18, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
Hmm....that's strange. You should contact an admin about it maybe...--Theryguy512 13:25, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

TM Redirects

considering Zhen didnt get back to me, youre saying i should just go ahead and make the redirects? MAGNEDETH 01:10, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Yes, I'd recommend resuming the redirects. The deletion in question happened back in 2005, when Bulbapedia wasn't nearly as big or as well-organized as it is today.
You've still got 62 more redirects to make, TM 39 through TM 92 and HM 01 through HM 08. That shouldn't take you too long. --Shiningpikablu252 04:38, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
im the master of tedious activity. i can do it. i just wanted to make sure i was allowed to. (for lack of a better term) MAGNEDETH 04:45, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Enlighten me...

Maybe I'm not cut out for this renaming of COTDs. I don't watch the anime, and, although I know some of the basics, I wouldn't know that someone was from Kanto if there is no mention of that on her page and her first appearance was in an AG episode. --ニョロトノ666 23:44, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

Well, it's quite simple. Not all of Advanced Generation takes place in Hoenn. AG132 is the last episode that takes place in Hoenn, with the scene shifting to Kanto within the episode. Any episode between AG132 and DP001 takes place in Kanto. --Shiningpikablu252 23:47, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
Really? Cool. Thanks for that info. --Theryguy512 13:58, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

TCG expansion infobox

Thoughts on it? You're the TCG guy, so I'm coming to you for it. TTEchidna 05:24, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

That looks good. Granted, Skyridge might get a little stretched with one six-type specialty theme deck, but it really shouldn't be too much of a concern...--Shiningpikablu252 05:40, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
Any opinions on adding to it? And for Skyridge we can just shrink the images and add them in manually... TTEchidna 05:42, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
I think the infobox is perfect the way it is. Of course, for the Skyridge six-type thing, we could always try a <br> tag before resorting to more drastic measures...--Shiningpikablu252 05:48, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Diamond & Pearl Card Errata

Yes, it's me again. I just don't go away, do I? =P

Anyway, I wanted to talk about how certain card pages should tackle card erratas. Electivire from Secret Wonders, for example, has been erratad. I think these pages need to reflect that errata has been announced, I'm just wondering how they should reflect it, and would appreciate your input. Cheers, Double Dash 22:13, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

Funny you should mention SW Electivire, since that page has a good example of an early method of errata reflection. A bit more fleshing out, and a good system of errata reflection might mold into place. --Shiningpikablu252 01:21, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
I was gonna suggest putting it in the card text, but I see how that might cause confusion. Nice idea putting an overview of it in Trivia, I might try to do that for all erratad cards over the weekend. BTW, any idea when we'll be able to edit userpages again? I wanna start drafting the Majestic Dawn page. Cipher 17:46, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for fixing up the Berry Master page...I was just remembering the Weekday Siblings from the Gold/Silver/Crystal games and thought there might be some kind of connection, since that A) BM (Berry Master)'s wife mentions four grandchildren and B) There are four "young people" who hand out berries (The old guy in Lilycove couldn't be one of them due to his age). ~~TRGrunt

TCG Pages for Pokémon

By which I mean stuff like Croagunk (TCG). What's the point? I mean, seriously, what is the point? They're empty. Most of 'em don't even exist. They would just as easily go as one list under Croagunk (Pokémon)#In the TCG. Even if that doesn't work, there surely has to be a much better alternative than how it's done now.

If a card is notable or has many different variations, like Charizard (but not including minors like Abra), maybe they warrant their own page. Actually, I'd say they do. But that doesn't amount to 491 Pokémon.Probably nowhere near...god knows. 30 or 40? If that? Cipher 21:08, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Well, for starters, implementing what you're proposing would undo a big project Politoed666 undertook. The old lists from those sections were, let's face it, not very well kept. Additionally, over time, more cards will be released, more of those pages will be created, and those pages that already exist will get bigger. Naturally, you'd expect pages for a Generation I Pokémon to generally be big and those for a Generation IV Pokémon to generally be small, but trust me, keeping these pages is better in the long run. --Shiningpikablu252 21:14, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
Then I would strongly suggest that they need cleaning up, because some of them (most, in fact) are a mess. I mean, there are headings that are only being used for one or two cards, such as gym cards or Light Pokémon cards. And there are tons of errors all over. Cipher 21:34, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
I made Pelipper (TCG) before I read this, and I thought about how I was going to ask you something but now I don't have the heart for it. Anyway... Could you look at this to make sure there aren't any huge mistakes (since you are the admin who knows the most about the TCG), I was thinking about making some of these because that is what is clogging most of the Wanted Pages, these disambiguation pages. So please look and tell what you think, even if you don't think I should do anymore. MoldyOrange 03:20, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
I agree on the cleanup aspect. Perhaps chart 'em up like the setlists? Lemme see if I can do Pikachu's tonight... TTEchidna 04:39, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

The redirect is merely an old habit; most of the other wikis I'm on, it's actually a rule to redirect a signature image to your userpage. :D With the new policy in place though, it's unneeded, so assuming you've got sysop rights on the Archives as well, could you do me a favor and delete the image? -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.> 03:06, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

It seems as though the deletion of "User:Politoed666/Sig" caused most of my recent talk page messages to have red links at the end. About your sig: How long do you think it will take to get rid of the redlinks if I do go through with the restoration?
About the user: First-timer, only one strike. Doesn't merit a block unless he ignores my warning. --Shiningpikablu252 02:18, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
I suppose a block for a first-time offense like that would be excessive. And as for the signature business, I don't think I had used that template on that many pages, so not too long. --ニョロトノ666 02:21, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

Possible Solution to Screwy Userpages?

By doing a tag-by-tag rundown, I think I've found the cause of the problem with the user pages in userboxes. By trial-and-error, I've found that some tags lack a closing </span> tag! When I added it to Template:User No Shipper, a template that I had found to contribute to the problem, I found that it was no longer causing problems after adding the missing tag. This might be the solution to this problem. Anyone willing to do full investigations into every tag? --Shiningpikablu252 04:14, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

I noticed one thing that all the pages that had AIDswere screwed up all (I think?) had {{User No Vandal}} on it, so maybe try something with that.. Tina δ 04:17, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
That one checked out clean, but after the no-shipper tag, it turns out that I had only one more problematic tag--Template:User Favorite Move. Once that was fixed, my page was back to normal! Looks like we've found the solution. Spread the word. --Shiningpikablu252 04:20, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
if those tags worked before, why would they all of a sudden break? MAGNEDETH 04:21, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
I noticed several new features in the page deletion today, which would probably suggest a system update and new features in other areas. I think the update involves a change in coding for span tags, and that change in coding might have broken the userboxes. --Shiningpikablu252 04:25, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
Tina's page is back to normal, but no one elses is....? also, your Zodiac template on the page has a pointless "'s" in it. --- MAGNEDETH 01:35, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
I didn't go back and fix every single tag. Additionally, there are some userspace mission prizetags that fall into the offenders, which would make a full immediate fix pretty much impossible. --Shiningpikablu252 01:39, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
well, i dont have ANY mission tags (i find missions to be rather pointless) so, just tell me how to fix it so when the User space ban ends, i can take care of it. --- MAGNEDETH 01:43, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

MAGNEDETH, your page has been fixed. --Shiningpikablu252 01:51, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

ITS A MIRACLE!!!!! how can i repay you? --- MAGNEDETH 01:52, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

Oh, and can you un-categorize User:0-172 for me? Same reason. --ニョロトノ666 23:41, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Maybe you're right. Since CN started airing them in 2007, and Wikipedia says that logo was used until 2004, I thought that it was never used the same time Pokemon was airing. But Wikipedia can be wrong. Maybe they should both be added. you think a TV project would be allowed? Porygon-Z 19:39, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
