Hello. I found a page by another user which contains some information you might want to consider for use in your article. --Tharja (talk) 22:09, 19 December 2014 (UTC)

Learnset (Here and at Hoopa's)

Since you had a complete learnset, I hope you didn't mind my adding the Contest info for everything except Steam Eruption, which is not yet known. Same with Hyperspace Hole on the Hoopa page. I kept the switches on that one, so they should still function! CycloneGU (talk) 06:41, 5 January 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for helping! But next time, please notify me before adding anything, especially because most of the Pokémon articles' movesets in the mainspace don't have Contest info. ;) I really appreciate your help! By the way, great work! Phiraptor28 (talk) 13:57, 9 January 2015 (UTC)
The reason most don't have them is because people haven't gone, after a month, to do them unless it's ones they know or generally feel are important. As of last nite, every Hoenn species has FULL contest info (tended to that myself), and half of Kanto is now complete. As Ribose is currently taking care of that (excepting a typo of appeal or jam somewhere, that will be found with time if so), I've left the rest alone, having done TM lists for those with family in Hoenn already. I'm continuing with the regional starters as I type, then might move to the smaller Kalos or Sinnoh groups or the larger Unova group. Only thing I'm NOT doing is adding the ORAS column if there isn't already one (and that's generally there ATM with catchable and evolvable species, with exceptions). I did the Contest data here because I knew I was going to have a lot more of it complete by the time these go to the mainspace, and Diancie, Zygarde, Yveltal, and Xerneas I've already ensured are completed, meaning it'll fit in that way with the other legendaries. Just need those two missing moves someday. =)
I will ask about any other changes, but I likely will not have any other changes to make. I also did ask another active editor here, but never saw a response and wanted to clear the lists from my screen (the laptop I edited those lists on is now in the shop...again), so decided to be bold. Page Deletion

Does this page need to be deleted because Volcanion has not officially been revealed yet? I thought that Bulbapedia was supposed to only include official information and therefore this page is not supposed to exist yet. I thought that is why when Hoopa's new form was found by hacking, Bulbapedia was locked for editing until some time after ORAS released. Water Max (talk) 13:13, 11 January 2015 (UTC)

FWIW, staff moved it, so staff are more or less okay with it. As for the reasoning, you'll have to wait for one of them to respond. Though I suppose it's possible they could also change their mind (in which case it would just be moved back to its userspace origin, not deleted). Tiddlywinks (talk) 13:17, 11 January 2015 (UTC)
You will note that I also reverted the link being added at the Bulbasaur article before looking and seeing that it was in the mainspace, which told me staff was OK with it despite not being announced (Crystal Talian moved Volcanion to the mainspace). So I reverted myself upon seeing that. CycloneGU (talk) 15:26, 11 January 2015 (UTC)
They could have just changed their minds. They did this with Mega Latios and Latias as well. --HoennMaster 19:18, 11 January 2015 (UTC)
Well, if it stays in the mainspace, it should at least be locked to editing until Volcanion is officially revealed. Adamws (talk) 19:21, 11 January 2015 (UTC)
There's no need to lock it completely. Why assume there will be trouble? There are still protections from NOVEMBER 2013 in place at Zygarde so that only established users can edit it; the reason was because the page was protected from creation at the time. Clearly it exists now and the protection hasn't been removed even though Xerneas and Yveltal don't have this protection (and it should be removed). So why put on yearlong protection that someone might forget to nix? If something happens, lock it for a week, but most of the Pokémon world knows about their existence now and staff decided the article can be there, so why treat it differently? CycloneGU (talk) 21:33, 11 January 2015 (UTC)
I still think that it would be best to at least lock the page so that only established users can edit it. Vandalism on the site does happen. As for Zygarde still having the protection on it, I believe that it is there because of the moves Thousand Waves and Thousand Arrows possibly alluding to alternate forms for Zygarde. Adamws (talk) 23:42, 11 January 2015 (UTC)
Vandalism wouldn't get far - it gets spotted on Recent Changes, someone looks, it's reverted, and the situation handled. If it becomes a repetitive thing, then yes, protect the page temporarily. In this case, we have a good article going for it, and the protection for Zygarde (which has been in effect since 2013) was for page creation, and it's now created. Since Volcanion is created, it's a different protection request that I think we can delay putting in place. If someone adds something, we can find out if it's true and leave it or simply remove it. There won't be that many visitors, I think, looking to destroy the page; even so, it's easy to restore a prior revision. CycloneGU (talk) 00:12, 12 January 2015 (UTC)

(resetting indent) Getting back to the original point here, can someone explain to me why it's okay now to make an article for Volcanion, yet it wasn't okay before? And if it's because the staff "changed their mind" about it, then why have we not made mention of Floette's unreleased alternate form yet (Eternal Flower)? And what about the unreleased moves (Light of Ruin, Thousand Arrows, Thousand Waves, Steam Eruption, Hyperspace Hole, and Hyperspace Fury)? Why does Volcanion get an exception to the "nothing in Gen 6 that's not officially confirmed" rule and nothing else does? It just feels strange. --GoldenSandslash15 (talk) 01:06, 12 January 2015 (UTC)

The moves are in userspace. They're not ready for mainspace use and are intended only for users who are assisting with the page to edit (not for general editing) until they are deemed ready. Volcanion's and Hoopa's pages were treated the same way and finally released. Volcanion's release surprised me, but there's enough information for it, so it's not a problem.
See the following userspace pages I pulled from Recent Changes (as of 05:36:35 on January 12, all are in mainspace and links are updated):
As for the Floette, there are commented out sections referring to Eternal Flower Floette and AZ's Floette in the article. Even in the moveset you'll find Light of Ruin commented out because we can't be sure of it until it's ever released. I have a suspicion Z will bring it about, but we must wait. CycloneGU (talk) 01:16, 12 January 2015 (UTC)
GoldenSandslash15, I agree with your questioning simply because it leaves the links in the Learnset sections broken. I expected them to release "Hoopa (Pokémon)", then release "Hyperspace Hole (move)" or comment out the Learnset section. Then release "Volcanion (Pokémon)" and "Steam Eruption (move)" later when they are confirmed. Don't do this half-assed shit, or at least explain why. ~ Ribose · talk · cntr · 01:36, 12 January 2015 (UTC)
I agree in principle that the pages should be moved to the mainspace now since we have broken links to them. I'll ask Relicant to pop in here. CycloneGU (talk) 01:53, 12 January 2015 (UTC)
Why? They're not staff and have no authority over mainspacing things. glikglak 01:58, 12 January 2015 (UTC) Relicant
If you mean the Pokémon pages, Force Fire moved Hoopa in and Crystal Talian moved Volcanion. An administrator, then a senior administrator. CycloneGU (talk) 02:39, 12 January 2015 (UTC)
I just realized you mean Relicant is not staff. However, if the pages end up moved, they're in his userspace now, so involving him in the discussion. I apologize if this is an error in thought. CycloneGU (talk) 02:46, 12 January 2015 (UTC)

[Outdent] "Enough information for it"? None of it official, though, which is what I thought was the criterion for releasing the information to begin with. Not gonna lie, I'm a little disappointed in the admins for allowing this page to go up without at least sourcing the information so that releasing it was OK. Starscream (talk) 19:49, 12 January 2015 (UTC)

I admit I was surprised at Volcanion coming out now as well, and I know at least one administrator who expressed the same view, but the only reason I can imagine what has been provided being released is that higher Bulbapedia staff got their hands on both species somehow and verified all of this information playing with them normally from Lv.1 (or had a reliable source - possibly the person whose userspace this was in before). If they could not do that, the information would not be out. Right now, they are researching Hyperspace Fury for Hoopa, and we need contest data for that and two other moves; that's the only thing missing in the tables barring future Events.
That said, hopefully higher staff will post a response here to answer your question as I do not represent the staff in any facility. CycloneGU (talk) 20:05, 12 January 2015 (UTC)
The pages should have been moved a while back, but the staff only agreed to mainspace the pages after Hoopa was officially announced (not that there was a wait for that, just that it happening meant we needed a Hoopa page and used the one we already had). The fact that they have been moved now does not mean that we now have information we didn't have a week ago (although when they were first discovered they didn't qualify for articles, which is why it took so long). They're here now, and people should focus on fixing them now that they're in the mainspace, not worry about why it took so long.
Something is supposed to happen with AZ's Floette/Eternal Flower Floette, but that's still in progress. --SnorlaxMonster 22:51, 12 January 2015 (UTC)

Sludge Bomb

According to Smogon, Volcanion can also know Sludge Bomb as well as Sludge Wave, is this true or not. StephenWalker97 (talk) 17:12, 14 January 2015 (UTC)

FWIW, Serebii agrees with Smogon. Whoever has a hacked Volcanion should verify that. If I can successfully hack a gift into my game, I'll take a glance later with an all TMs code to verify the list. Hoopa too, maybe. CycloneGU (talk) 19:02, 14 January 2015 (UTC)
I have a Volcanion, and I can confirm it can learn Sludge Bomb. If you need to know all the TMs and HMs it can learn, just ask. Nintendocan (talk) 23:32, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
I checked, and there were quite a few TM/HM moves missing, including Flamethrower. I've added them all. --SnorlaxMonster 13:56, 16 February 2015 (UTC)

Should we use a picture of Volcanion's model under the infobox template, like what we did with the Gen V Mythical Pokémon before they were officially revealed? Nintendocan (talk) 23:19, 15 January 2015 (UTC)

I think we should. Is there a reason we haven't? Because Volcanion isn't revealed yet? Or has nobody gotten around to adding the picture? Or something else? Partone (talk) 02:19, 22 January 2015 (UTC)

I managed to get a Volcanion onto my Omega Ruby, TM35 Flamethrower worked just fine on it. Thought I'd bring this up. Sneaking from page to page... It's the page-editing purple ghost... Gengarzilla! 12:34, 16 February 2015 (UTC)

I checked, and there were quite a few TM/HM moves missing, including Flamethrower. I've added them all. --SnorlaxMonster 13:56, 16 February 2015 (UTC)

Missing Images

It looks as though the images for Volcanion (art and sprites) are missing. It hasn't been officially released, but don't we already have images of Volcanion, or at least access to images, for the article? --C. Wallace TALK 17:52, 22 February 2015 (UTC)

Edit Permission Inquiry

Hey, I know a lot about Volcanion since I have one, but it won't let me edit. --JellyJammer (talk) 15:04, 6 April 2015 (UTC)

Some pages can only be edited by certain groups of users. Additionally, Volcanion is only available at this time via hacking and has not even been confirmed or introduced by Nintendo (this year is Hoopa, last year was Diancie, next year is Volcanion).
My guess regarding edit permissions is that you are not an autoconfirmed user; I am and I can edit (and have before). CycloneGU (talk) 22:52, 6 April 2015 (UTC)

Needs WAY more out-of-universe info

This article does a terrible job of explaining the real-world background on this Pokémon. One glaring example: why is there a wealth of info on the base stats, movesets, even the Pokédex entry text, while simultaneously stating, "has not been officially revealed" and no image is present?! This encyclopedia is for everyone, not just of repository of info for people in the know; I for one am just learning about this Pokémon's existence, I'm thoroughly confused by this article, and I'm loath to Google search it. I'm also confused why articles like "Steam Eruption (move)" show it as a sprite, yet this article's "Sprites" section is empty. Would be nice if this article could just clarify all that background info (and/or just needs an update?)! DKqwerty (talk) 14:46, 24 November 2015 (UTC)

Symphonic Evolutions

Having just been to see the Pokémon Symphonic Evolutions concert in London, I can vouch that it showed gameplay of Sycamore's lab in which Sycamore congratulates the player on a Pokédex of 720 Pokémon rather than 721 (despite Volcanion now being VolCANON (I'm sorry... :/ )). Is it worth mentioning this change of footage in the trivia section? --ShinyPatch (talk) 00:43, 21 December 2015 (UTC)

On the Symphonic Evolutions page, yes. Here, not really. glikglak 01:12, 21 December 2015 (UTC)

Future event

Well, its already revealed, so why is it there? Lokki (talk) 11:01, 3 January 2016 (UTC)

Revealed, but not available legitimately yet. Eridanus (talk) 11:26, 3 January 2016 (UTC)
It is quite literally a future event. Bwburke94 (talk) 04:56, 11 February 2016 (UTC)

It is speculated that Volcanion will be released as an event with Magearna after M19 comes out.Dragoombanite (talk) 04:38, 19 February 2016 (UTC)

Sprite (File:721MS.png)

How could this sprite be here almost a year before the release? Lokki (talk) 16:57, 15 January 2016 (UTC)

We've had someone decompile the code after ORAS was released. --リックEO (メッセージ) 05:21, 11 February 2016 (UTC)

¿Are those dates correct?

The article says "Volcanion was leaked in the January 2016 issue of CoroCoro magazine on December 12, 2015". Is that correct? Or the CoroCoro issues are released with the label of the next month? that's pretty confusing --Godshawk (talk) 15:18, 3 April 2016 (UTC)

Magazines with issues based on months always are labeled as being the issue of the following month, so yes, it is correct. The next Corocoro (coming out in two weeks ten days) will be the May 2016 issue. BetaT (talk) 15:52, 3 April 2016 (UTC)
Oh, I see. Thinking back it does make sense now. Thank you--Godshawk (talk) 23:07, 16 April 2016 (UTC)
