The Sun Flute (Japanese: たいようのふえ Sun Flute) is a Key Item introduced in Generation VII.

In the core series games

In Pokémon Moon and Ultra Moon, this item is in Lusamine's possession. After the player defeats Lusamine, Gladion finds it among Lusamine's belongings and gives it to Lillie.

In Pokémon Sun and Ultra Sun, this item is located on Exeggutor Island. The player obtains it as an item in their Bag upon finding it.

Effect

When the Sun Flute and Moon Flute are played in harmony at the Altar of the Sunne during the storyline of Pokémon Sun and Ultra Sun, it causes Nebby to evolve into Solgaleo.

When the Sun Flute and Moon Flute are played in harmony at the Altar of the Moone during the storyline of Pokémon Moon and Ultra Moon, it causes Nebby to evolve into Lunala.

The Sun Flute appeared in The Eclipse, where it was shown to be in Lillie's possession. When played alongside Selene's Moon Flute at the Altar of the Moone, it caused Nebby to evolve into Lunala.

The Sun Flute first appeared in The Truth and Island Kahuna Hapu, where Lillie revealed that she had taken it with her when she fled Aether Paradise with Nebby. Upon seeing the flute, Gladion said they should go to the Poni Altar. It was later given to Sun, who played it alongside Moon's Moon Flute at the Poni Altar, allowing a Cosmoem to evolve into Solgaleo.
