Inside the Day Care, the old woman and Gold look at some books. Gold sees Red and his Pokémon, and then shows Polibo Red's Poli. Afterwards, Gold enters another room.
Upon entering the other room, the old woman puts bars in, trapping Gold, who finds angry Pokémon inside the room. Gold notices that all the Pokémon are elite fighters. A second into the battle, he is being chased by a Tauros. Dodging more attacks, he has Exbo use Smokescreen, and Togebo, his newly nicknamedTogepi, use Metronome. Metronome becomes Leer, which hits an Ekans. Exbo fires an Ember at a Donphan, who deflects it.
Following the instructions of the Day-Care Lady, Gold tells Polibo to use Water Gun, which hits Donphan and sends it flying.
In Ecruteak City, Jasmine walks toward the Day Care. However, an earthquake hits and the ground underneath Jasmine's feet breaks, causing her to fall in.
Meanwhile, in the Day Care, a Primeape uses Cross Chop on Sudobo, who counters with Mimic. Noticing that Sudobo is taking more damage than Primeape, he has Sunbo use Sunny Day, allowing Exbo to unleash a harsh sunlight-boosted Ember and defeat Primeape. Following the battle, Exbo evolves into a Quilava.
The Day-Care Man hears a message on the radio: Ecruteak City has been hit by a major earthquake. The Day-Care Couple starts to worry for Jasmine. But then the Day-Care Lady realizes that someone can help...
In Ecruteak City, standing on boulders, Gold recalls the Day-Care Lady telling him that he's mastered the training and giving him a King's Rock. They also asked him to look for Jasmine.
