Enta (Japanese: エンタ Enta) is a recurring character in the Pokémon anime. He is the mayor of Hearthome City and serves as an announcer for several Pokémon competitions within the city. He first appeared in Tag! We're It...!.
Enta debuted in Tag! We're It...!, where he was seen welcoming Tag Battle Trainers to Hearthome City. He revealed he would host the Hearthome City Tag Battle Competition and then explained the proceedings to all the contestants and the audience. He asked the competing Trainers to check their registration cards and use the numbers as a guide to find their Tag Battle partners, which had been randomly decided.
After everyone located their partners, he announced that the winning team would receive two Soothe Bells, one for each Trainer. He also said the competition would only start later that day, advising Trainers to practice in the meantime. When the competition really began, Enta explained the rules, saying that each Trainer was allowed to use one Pokémon, substitutions were prohibited, the battles had no time limit, and whichever team ended up unable to battle would be eliminated. He also provided commentary during the competition.
In Glory Blaze!, Enta continued to comment on the battles and announced the semifinalists of the event. In Smells Like Team Spirit!, he handed out the two Soothe Bells to Ash and Paul as their prize for winning the Hearthome City Tag Battle Competition, after they defeated Dawn and Conway in the final round.
Enta is a very active person who likes to be involved in the Pokémon competitions taking place in Hearthome City. He seems to enjoy working as an announcer, as he is always excited when giving a running commentary of an event. His lively attitude was so strong that it annoyed Jessie during the Hearthome City Tag Battle Competition.
