The Charizard VMAX Starter Set (Japanese: スターターセットVMAX リザードン Starter Set VMAX: Lizardon) and Grimmsnarl VMAX Starter Set (Japanese: スターターセットVMAX オーロンゲ Starter Set VMAX: Ohlonge) are a pair of Japanese-exclusive Standard Decks released for the Pokémon Trading Card Game on March 27, 2020.
Information
Following the Japanese release of Rebellion Crash three weeks later were two 60-card pre-constructed starter sets focusing on two Gigantamax Pokémon: the Flame Pokémon Charizard and the Bulk Up Pokémon Grimmsnarl. Each starter set premiers two Pokémon V and one Pokémon VMAX of the titular Pokémon and contain a fixed selection of cards. Trainer cards sourced from the Sun & Moon Era retain their original layout. Each set also comes packaged with a sheet containing 36 damage counters and 2 status markers, a player's guide, a coin, and a playmat.
A VMAX Battle Triple Starter Set (Japanese: VMAX 対戦トリプルスターターセット) was later released on December 4, 2020, which includes copies of the Venusaur & Blastoise VMAX Starter Sets (available separately on the same day) and a new version of the Charizard VMAX Starter Set. This second version includes a slightly different selection of cards, substituting Cynthia for Marnie due to its then upcoming rotation, and including a new print of Professor's Research featuring Professor Juniper. These cards also have a different collection symbol.
