The Basement Key (Japanese: ちかのカギ Basement Key) is a Key Item introduced in Generation III. It is used to unlock the door to New Mauville.

In Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, instead of an item, the Basement Key is replaced by an iris recognition system at New Mauville's entrance. It automatically opens the door for the player once Wattson has taken a picture of their eyes and sent the data to New Mauville, which can be done as soon as the player has defeated or captured Groudon^OR/Kyogre^AS. However, the Basement Key item is present in the games' code despite being unused.
