- It actually stands for Episode. Some other t.v. series do that. But for the Pokemon series, they got bored of the EP after a while and changed it to AG(advanced generation) for their new generation (gen III). I'm 99% sure that's what it stands for. Fandom name?
Where does "Original Series" come from? I believe (though I'm not sure) it is a name given by the fandom or... at least it is how we call these "seasons" but, if it isn't like "official" it should be stated that Original Series it's not an official name and that we came up with it. Advanced Generation and Diamond and Pearl (well, the last one might be OK since it comes from the japanese name of the seasons) and I don't know about AG. But my point is: Where did we take that name? We just named it... just because? Out of the nowhere only because "we have the need to name it differently from the latter seasons"? Pokémon advanced ?

- The subtitles you see on screen don't always correspond with what the actual season is. The final 12 episodes of the Johto saga are given the Master Quest subtitle, but are technically part of Season 6. As you can see here. --HoennMaster 03:23, 11 October 2015 (UTC)

The Beginning / Gold and Silver
So, in the English dub, this is actually two series, not one. Unlike the other 4 series, we don't have iTunes or DVD releases to strongly reinforce this, but we do have Pokémon.com and some press releases. Most of this information only came out very recently.
"Pokémon the Series: The Beginning" comprises the US DVD seasons Pokémon: Indigo League and Pokémon: Adventures in the Orange Islands ([1] [2]). This series is also mentioned in a few press releases about the German airing rights being obtained by Nickelodeon ([3] [4] [5]).
"Pokémon the Series: Gold and Silver" comprises the US DVD seasons Pokémon: The Johto Journeys, Pokémon: Johto League Champions and Pokémon: Master Quest ([6] [7]*). --SnorlaxMonster 06:43, 24 October 2015 (UTC)

- I'm in favor of this as well, especially after the official Youtube channel has divided the series through openings. It is more accurate to divide in two, while also changing the episode codes as "TB" and "GS". (→ Rockapheller, talk to me 04:59, 7 February 2019 (UTC))
Splitting

Move to Pocket Monsters (1997)

Pokémon the Series: The Beginning
Unlike other series, TPCI call the original series Pokémon the Series: The beginning. However other series are called on the games of their generation. So why hasn't they called it Pokémon the Series: Red and Blue. DarkDan 13:33, 2 February 2020 (UTC)

Title
The other series had its title changed. Why hasn't Original Series been changed to Pokémon the Series: The beginning and Pokémon the Series: Gold and Silver DarkDan 01:10, 1 June 2020 (UTC)

- The key distinction between the original series and other series is that it's a single series in the Japanese version, but two series in the dub. While it would be possible to stick both dub titles together and call that the article's title, that's really not ideal. --SnorlaxMonster 10:23, 9 June 2020 (UTC)
