Trivia

  • Unlike most evolved Pokémon, except in the case of baby Pokémon, it is far more common in the wild than its pre-evolution. This is due to Kricketune being available at all times of day, while Kricketot is only found at night (as well as morning in Platinum), as well as the low level required for its evolution.
  • Kricketune is the only pure Template:Type2 Pokémon that is the final stage in an evolutionary line. The only other pure Bug-types that cannot evolve into anything else, Pinsir, Volbeat, and Illumise, don't evolve from anything else.
  • Despite its Platinum Pokédex entry, all Kricketune have the same cry.

Origin

Kricketune appears to be based on a violin beetle.

Name origin

Its name comes from cricket and tune. Its Japanese name may come from 蟋蟀 koorogi, cricket, and a corruption of 曲 kyoku, tune.

In other languages

  • German: Zirpeise - A combination of zirpen (to chirp) and Weise (tune).
  • French: Melokrik - Combination of mélodie (melody) and criquet (cricket)
  • Korean: 귀뚤톡크 Gwittultokkeu
