Project Snorlax[1] (Japanese: プロジェクトカビゴン Project Kabigon) is a campaign launched by The Pokémon Company in 2023 that focuses on Snorlax. It includes various social media campaigns, entertainment products, and advertisements. It is the third such campaign to be launched by The Pokémon Company, after Project Eevee in 2017 and Project Piplup in 2021. It ended on February 29th, 2024.[2]
Background
Focusing on the titular Sleeping Pokémon, Project Snorlax launched on March 17, 2023, which coincides with World Sleep Day for that year. According to the official Twitter announcement, Project Snorlax aims to present the "cuteness, coolness, and loveliness" of Snorlax.[3][4] Project Snorlax has a dedicated website, as well as Twitter and Instagram accounts (both on @project_kabigon). After the campaign ended, the Instagram account moved to a new handle (@pokemonsleep_kabigon_official).
Events
Snorlax Goes All Out Week
Snorlax Goes All Out Week (Japanese: カビゴンがほんきをだすWEEK Kabigon Goes All Out WEEK) is a week-long event running from June 22 to June 28, 2023. A new Snorlax-related content or promotional material was released every day of the week.
The event name is a reference to Snorlax's Z-Move, Pulverizing Pancake (Japanese: ほんきをだすこうげき Go All Out Attack).
June 22, 2023
A short trailer showcasing Snorlax's appearance in The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet was released.

June 23, 2023
A short film titled (Japanese: おはよう、カビゴン。 Good Morning, Kabigon.) was released. It tells the story of a woman's chance encounter with a Snorlax when she returned to her hometown.

June 24, 2023

A web manga titled (Japanese: カビゴンの夢グルメ Kabigon's Dream Gourmet) was announced in 2023, written and illustrated by Taku Kuwabara, the mangaka behind Drifting Dragons. The first chapter was scheduled for a release in Fall 2023,[5] though it was quietly delayed until January 2024.[6] The final chapter released on February 23rd, 2024.[7]

Snorlax appears in a video uploaded to the official Japanese Pokémon Trading Card Game YouTube channel, known as Pokémon Card Channel. The hosts battle using decks that utilize various Snorlax cards.

A teaser for Pokémon Sleep was uploaded, showcasing Snorlax, the game mascot, living inside the smartphone app. The video is narrated by Kenjirō Ishimaru.

December 8th, 2023

A set of four 1-minute shorts featuring Snorlax and Cubone known as The Adventures of Snorlax & Cubone (Japanese: カビゴンとカラカラ Kabigon and Karakara) was released on the Project Snorlax Twitter account every Friday from December 8 to December 29, 2023. A 5-minute compilation of all four shorts was released on the official Pokémon Japanese and English YouTube channels on December 29, 2023.

LINE stickers
A series of LINE stickers were released on January 18, 2024, as part of Project Snorlax, known as Jolly Snorlax Stickers. (Japanese: ようきなカビゴン!) They were drawn by kumamine.[8]
- Snorlax is bringing a whole bunch of cheer to this sticker set as part of Project Snorlax! The illustrator kumamine has created uncharacteristically jolly Snorlax that are sure to brighten your chats!

The Confronting Snorlax
Each day the week beginning January 22nd, 2024, social media accounts for Project Snorlax released artwork depicting Snorlax in various battles against the player characters from a variety of core series games, under the name The Confronting Snorlax[11] (Japanese: 立ちはだかるカビゴン Snorlax Blocks the Way).[12]
