There should be something about the real-life Pokedex. TheListUpdater 20:48, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

You mean the toy ones? Good idea.--Starlight the ampharos 04:45, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

FireRed entries for Kanto Pokémon?

Am I correct in assuming, as LeafGreen got the R/B entries, that FR's entries were originally in Green? TTEchidna 03:41, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Oh, wait, answered myself. TTEchidna 03:43, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Nest area colors and patterns?

I noticed that there were different ways of highlighting nesting areas (at least in D/P). For example, Chansey's nesting area shows Routes 209 and 210 as square, cyan, and glowing, but the Trophy Garden as red, round, and flashing. Does anyone have any knowledge about what each of these mean specifically?

It means the size of the area. TorchicBlaziken 23:11, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

Pokedex contradictions

There are a lot of Pokedex entries that are not fulfilled when certain moves are used in battle against it, like Hypno not making any Pokemon who sees it or uses Mean Look on it or wakes up from sleep fall asleep. TorchicBlaziken 23:11, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

If everything the Pokédex said were true, the games would probably suck. Arceus should just be able to make its opponent simply not exist anymore. This is just a case of Gameplay And Story Segregation.--Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 23:52, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
Im sorry, but that would be epic.--DCM((Shut the **** upSpy on My Edits))
If they wanted to make the game better by having contradictions, then what was the point in even making those Dex entries? I mean, wouldn't it be easier if they didn't have entries? or at least make them more compatable with gameplay? Weedle Mchairybug 01:35, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
For those people who dont play the games competitively or even use a Pedia to look up this stuff. CASUAL GAMERS LIKE TO READ. sorry for the caps--DCM((Shut the **** upSpy on My Edits))

Models...

It seems that the TCG has given these things model numbers since the start... what ought we do about that, as far as mentioning it? TTEchidna 19:09, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

The issue is that the GSC Pokédex wasn't given a model number, and the RSE Pokédex wasn't even featured. Perhaps mention the model numbers straight after naming the Pokédex number, as such:
  • The first version of the Pokédex (model number HANDY505)...
  • The second Pokédex (model number HANDY808...
  • The fourth Pokédex (model number HANDY909)...
  • The fifth Pokédex (model number HANDY910is)... (Unsure about what to do with the sixth Pokédex, as it's still the same model, just new software, it seems)
And link to the relevant TCG page for the model? Cipher (Talk) 19:18, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
I wouldn't doubt that the model number appears SOMEWHERE in the games... it has to. TTEchidna 19:24, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
Well, if model numbers are mentioned in the TCG, surely they must have been mentioned in either the games or the anime. I don't recall the TCG ever having been a primary source for something like that. Cipher (Talk) 19:43, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
Pokédex model numbers are never mentioned in any English game pre‐Ruby and Sapphire; can’t comment for anything from GBA onward, but i think that’s highly unlikely as well. I suspect this is just a case of TCG canon—it is pretty cool though. IIMarckus 18:38, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

Dex Ratings

You know, they really should say what Prof. Oak says when you got a certain number of Pokemon. TorchicBlaziken (talk) 17:45, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

New johto Dex

should we add info on the new Johto Dex? ŚĥîΠŶPî₭₳ĉĥŭ 14:09, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

Sure, if we have enough to make something about it. *hasn't been paying attention to the news lately* R.A. Hunter Blade 17:19, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

I have a pic of the new Johto Dex's but don't know how to edit it in the program.

12_scan1pngPNGImage2000x1531pixels_.png

-MasterKenobi 01:03, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

What do you want to do, and in what program? Show the left half of the page, or only the top left with the two versions of the new Dex? Because if we get it so that it only shows the Dex's, it would... only show what the two Dex's look like. If we did the whole left half of the page, it would show part of what it can do. Unless what's underneath them has nothing to do with them... R.A. Hunter Blade 01:22, 13 June 2009 (UTC)
While reading that I thought of something. It ended up working out so here it all is:

12_scan1pngPNGImage2000x1531pixe-4.png

Do we want all of that or just the dex's? -MasterKenobi 02:01, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

Just the Dex's -MasterKenobi 02:11, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

12_scan1pngPNGImage2000x1531pixe-1.png

That's what I was asking about. Thanks. R.A. Hunter Blade 16:33, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

PMC Pokédex

Could someone get a screenshot of the Pokédex seen in Crazy as a Lunatone? It looks like a GameBoy Advance SP and is used by PMC. I reckon it deserves a mention? It's probably a middleman between the Hoenn Dex and the Neo Kanto Dex - or an alternate Neo Kanto Dex. Lucadan (Talk) 00:30, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

Can I add this?

In the Sinnoh Dex, where it tells you the location of the Pokémon, that the map is a little off.--Midnight Blue 00:39, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

Meaning? R.A. Hunter Blade 01:16, 19 August 2009 (UTC)
Well the map is a little off, Snowpoint is really off to me, but I guess its only opinion so never mind.--Midnight Blue 02:03, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

Sinnoh Dex in the Anime

"The anime version lacks the dial on the side."

If you look closely at the anime screenshot, it's pretty clear that the "dial" is simply pushed into the side of the Dex. It probably slides out when the trainer wants to use it. --Dual 04:39, 30 August 2009 (UTC)

That is the scanner that you can use to check what moves a Pokémon has while it's in the Poké Ball. That's what Paul uses for the first few Pokémon he's seen catching, such as the Starly, Ursaring, and Stantler. That's what the "This Pokédex, as shown in the anime by Paul, is able to scan a Poké Ball to see what moves the Pokémon inside it can use." quote is about. R.A. Hunter Blade 19:25, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
Sorry, I must have missed that episode. Though, if that's really the case, could someone include a screenshot of the exposed scanner so we can have a proper comparison of the anime dex to the game dex? --Dual 05:10, 6 September 2009 (UTC)

"Dex"

Should this be a Project Fandom article? CuboneKing 20:12, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

I'd say it is a Project PokéDex page.--Greenギャラドス 20:15, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
No, like "Dex is a fanon term to describe a Pokédex..." CuboneKing 01:50, 8 September 2009 (UTC)
Hmm. I appear to have permanently deleted the old discussions in trying to merge the pages. Er, oops? Btw: Project Itemdex. —darklordtrom 01:55, 8 September 2009 (UTC)
No, no, no! Dex for Project Fandom. That's why I did it at Dex's talk. CuboneKing 00:51, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

Pokédex Electronic Toys

I didn't really know where to put this question so I thought I would put it here since it is related to the Pokédex. I know that both Kanto Pokédex (HANDY505 & HANDY909), The Hoenn Pokédex, and the Sinnoh Pokédex (HANDY910is) were all made into electronic toys for children but what about the other Pokédex like the Johto Pokédex (HANDY808) and it's remake? Were they made into electronic toys, in the case of the remake going to be made, too? Let me know either here or on my user talk page. I'm trying to find an answer for cosplay purposes. Thank you. --PikaPower! 09:19, 21 September 2009 (UTC)

The original Johto PokéDex was made into an electronic toy by Tiger Electronics. It was released with gold colouring rather than the red colour scheme used in the anime and was released as the "PokéDex Deluxe". It featured the spring-loaded hinges as seen in the anime, allowed the user to keep a diary, had an alarm clock and scheduler, could record a list of your top 10 favourite Pokémon and featured entries of the first 251 Pokémon in National Dex order. Have fun. Me, Hurray! 15:44, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

Johto Pokédex Voice

Are we sure that Bill Rogers did the voice of the new Johto Pokédex in last week's episode? It sounds more like Eric Stuart to me. --HoennMaster 23:29, 10 February 2010 (UTC)

nicknames

in the anime Ash's first pokedex is nicknamed Dexter, do all pokedexes have nicknames or is Dexter just special? --Maximillion 02:38, 11 March 2010 (UTC)maximillion

Just Dexter. I think that was the Dex's program name, or just whatever Prof. Oak decided to call that specific Dex. R.A. Hunter Blade 03:11, 11 March 2010 (UTC)

Page is confusing

Couldn't it be sorted out into the different canons a la Pokémon pages? You know, a section for anime, a section for games, a section for manga, and a section for TCG? I think that'd really help the readability, and we'd get less contradicting information in each paragraph. I'd be willing to help out, but I've never overhauled a page before and this seems like it would be a fair-sized one. Dragoness 23:39, 15 May 2010 (UTC)

One way to start a rewrite, if you've never done one of this scale before, is to create a usersubpage. That way, you can work on the article and it won't disrupt the wiki. I think it's a great idea, and there are a lot of pages that could have a similar expansion. If you want, give it a try :) —darklordtrom 23:51, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
I finally got around to it (after I figured out how to make userpages ^^;). User:Dragoness/Pokédex Just an outline so far, but hopefully ok? Dragoness 03:58, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
That's looking great. Keep working on it :) —darklordtrom 07:58, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
I think I finally finished! Could I get someone to approve it or whatever the protocol is? I have a feeling I shouldn't just go and replace it. Dragoness 03:58, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
It looks great! If it were up to me, I'd say go for it!--Pokélova! 05:34, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
Doesn't seem to be any objections so I'm going to go ahead and replace it. Dragoness 05:10, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
Archived the old one because I'm paranoid: User:Dragoness/Pokédex_(archive)
But couldn't it still be seen in the history? Oh, and your user page for the previous article categorizes. Turtwig's A-B-Cs (talk | contribs) 12:15, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
Somehow i like the old version... -Pokeant 03:31, 3 January 2011 (UTC)
What do you prefer about it? If there's stuff that got left out, feel free to add it back in. If you don't like organization itself, well, could you give a reason why? Improvement is good. Dragoness 09:49, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

Images

Is it fair to say that this page has too many images? I think it needs a cleanup. Anyone agree? たかはり 03:54, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

I put them in galleries before I noticed your message. Still think it's cluttered? —darklordtrom 04:12, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
No, it looks better now. Problem fixed. たかはり 04:18, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

Buttons

I noticed in the trivia that it says that the Johto Pokedex from HGSS has no buttons, but the Japanese toy of it and it's Pokemon Adventures counterpart reveals three buttons when it's bottom part is slided. I don't know if in the game it does that. --Renzo493 15:30, July 8, 2010 (UTC)

Recent reversions

I reverted not only because the info is later in the page, but also because the one isn't even really true and the other isn't a summary at all, and both are badly worded. There are different regions and models of Pokédexes, but not types (unless you count the different colours in BW and the non-implemented ones in HGSS), and none of them are truly "special" to any region, especially when you take the National Dex into consideration, and the fact that they keep changing each dex. The second sentence can't even be considered a summary, since it's talking about info that changes in each generation and has misleading information since it implies you only get the weight when you obtain a Pokémon. Maybe if they were reworded into something that was correct or belonged as part of the summary then I could deal with it but as is both are redundant and essentially incorrect. Salix 08:26, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

Then fix them, don't remove them. --HoennMaster 13:48, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

Isshu Pokédex

Are you guys sure that the Isshu Dex has a height/weight comparison feature? I've been playing White extensively, and I see no such feature anywhere. --The Great Butler 07:52, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

I'd like some clarification on this, too. Is it an upgrade you can get somewhere? I've been checking every time my Pokédex has been upgraded, but so far no comparison features have appeared. I'm hoping they are still there and I've just missed them somehow, they were the most useful thing for getting the scale right when drawing them. Sockfox 12:24, 12 March 2011 (UTC)

Moving the article?

Don't you think this article should be named as PokéDex instead of Pokédex? Since, the official logo says PokéDex so we should also follow the same thing. ♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 03:59, 7 December 2010 (UTC)

Actually the logo says "PoKéDeX" soo...I kind of doubt that's the best source for proper capitalization. It might be worth checking the spelling in Gen IV games if you're that concerned though. Dragoness 04:16, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
Oh, didn't notice that. My bad ♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 04:24, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
Calling up Oak in HG confirms "Pokédex" as the correct capitalization. :|b Dragoness 23:15, 12 March 2011 (UTC)

Toy Pokedex

If one were to put up information about, and images of, the original (HANDY505)Pokédex, would this page be the page where one would put them? The doctor9 04:26, 7 December 2010 (UTC)

Pokédex models

The models in the descriptions were removed (i.e. HANDY505, HANDY808, etc.) Any reason why they were removed, and should we put them back? ht14 19:00, 27 January 2011 (UTC)

Done. They were originally removed from the body of the article because the model numbers are only associated with the TCG, but I forgot to put them back in the TCG section. Dragoness 10:48, 28 January 2011 (UTC)
Oh? I realize that they are only associated with the TCG, but I still would have thought that they should be put in the respective game sections... ht14 14:20, 31 January 2011 (UTC)
Well, the TCG and the games don't really overlap, and unless some other canon makes reference to the model numbers, it just seems a bit cluttered to add them to other sections. From what I've seen on other pages, the TCG tends to stay in its own section anyway, right? Dragoness 03:16, 17 February 2011 (UTC)

Unova Pokedex Voice Actor

From hearing the Unova Pokedex's voice in both of yesterday's episodes, I believe that it is voiced by Marc Thompson (Gliscor's voice).

Dexter

why don't we change the "In The Anime" section to an actual article called Dexter?--Supermon 00:19, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

Because there's not enough there to justify a separate article, I think.--Purimpopoie 00:53, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

Cherrim's Sunshine Form inclusion/issue should be mentioned in Trivia section?

Should we also mention this? *Although the Pokédex in Pokémon Platinum, Pokémon Diamond and Pearl allows different forms of a Pokémon to be viewed, Cherrim is the only Pokémon whose alternate form cannot be viewed. Only the Overcast Form and its gender differences (although it does not have any) are available. - Taken from Cherrim's Trivia section.

The Gen IV Pokedex was meant to be able to view all of the the Pokemon's different forms and gender differences. All except Cherrim was not available for viewing. This might've been largely GameFreak's fault as other Pokemon's forms such as Castform were viewable. Shouldn't we mention this fault? Blueknightex 12:39, 7 April 2012 (UTC)

Dawn's Unova dex
