Thick Fat (Japanese: あついしぼう Thick Fat) is an Ability introduced in Generation III. Nineteen Pokémon have this Ability, many of which already possess elemental types that make Template:Type2 and Template:Type2 moves ineffective.
Effect
In battle
Thick Fat gives the user heat and cold protection, therefore halving the power of Template:Type2 and Template:Type2 moves.
Outside of battle
Thick Fat has no effect outside of battle.

Trivia
- Seven of the sixteen Pokémon that can have Thick Fat are Template:Type2s, and therefore are less likely to be targeted by Ice or Fire moves in the first place.
- Template:Type2s Tepig and Pignite can also have it as an Ability, and have the same property.
- The Swinub line are the only Pokémon that can have the Ability and benefit from it covering a weakness.
