==Name Origin==
*Somek's Japanese name, [[Battlus]], is the same name as the [[Mt.BtlMaster|Mt. Battle Master]] in {{Pokémon XD}} in both Japanese and English. Battlus in XD also strongly resembles Somek, having only added a mustache, so it is highly likely they are the same person. Both men also use highly similar strategies, particularly combinations based around Earthquake.  
His name is derived from [[Pokémon battle|Battle]] and "Atlas," the mythical strongman.

Battlus is the Mount Battle Master of Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness. He can be battled after the player defeated 99 trainers at Mt. Battle. Just like the Mount Battle Master in Pokémon Colosseum, Somek, he appears as a huge bodybuilder. After his defeat he wants the player character to pick one of the three Johto Starter Pokémon: Chikorita, Cyndaquil or Totodile and he also gives away Mt. Battle Ribbons for the Pokémon used in the fight. His Pokémon team is probably the strongest of the game and all his Pokémon are of level 70.
