Liko's Sprigatito (Japanese: リコのニャオハ Liko's Nyahoja) was the first Pokémon that Liko obtained at the beginning of her journey, given to her in the Indigo Academy. It is usually seen outside its Poké Ball.

History

Sprigatito and Liko

Sprigatito debuted in HZ001, when Liko received her as her starter Pokémon by the Indigo Academy. At first, Sprigatito and Liko didn't get along well, with the Grass Cat Pokémon scratching her Trainer's hand and running off to mind her own business. In her battle debut against Ann's Oshawott, Sprigatito didn't listen to Liko's instructions, which led her to getting hit by a Water Gun.

Sprigatito's scent putting Rhydon to sleep

During the next days, Liko worked hard to strengthen her bond with Sprigatito by learning more about her and make her listen to her instructions in battle, but to little avail. When Amethio first approached Liko, Sprigatito immediately got suspicious of him and led her Trainer to the school's rooftop. She then went up against Zirc's Rhydon and won after subduing it with her aroma.

After being rescued by Friede, they were taken aboard his airship with the other members of the Rising Volt Tacklers, but were soon confronted by Amethio and his teammates. Liko was about to give herself up, but after some encouragement from Sprigatito, Liko stood tall and had her unleash a Leafage strong enough to break the forcefield around the Wing Deck, but she got blown overboard in the process, which allowed the Explorers to kidnap Sprigatito before fleeing.

In HZ003, Sprigatito was kept in a warehouse with Onia, who had taken a liking to Sprigatito and was giving her food and toys. With the help of Murdock's Rockruff, Liko located Sprigatito and took her back from the Explorers, only to be confronted by Onia and her Skarmory. Sprigatito was able to blind Onia and Skarmory with Leafage, allowing them to escape. At the end of the day, Sprigatito and her Trainer joined the Rising Volt Tacklers as official members.

Sprigatito and Roy's Fuecoco

In HZ005, Sprigatito battled Onia and her Golduck, and quickly defeated them. However, Sprigatito and Liko were almost ambushed by Amethio and his Corviknight. Fortunately, they were saved by Liko's pendant once again. Sprigatito then teamed up with Fuecoco in order to battle against Amethio's Ceruledge. Despite the numerical advantage, Ceruledge was clearly dominating the battle, which ultimately came to a halt when a Black Rayquaza emerged from Roy's Ancient Poké Ball and started attacking, forcing the Explorers to retreat.

In HZ007, Sprigatito briefly sparred against Roy's Fuecoco. However, they didn't make much progress, as both Pokémon tired themselves into a draw after consecutive uses of Leafage and Ember. Later, after being unable to talk to Dot, Liko and Roy's determination to get stronger convinced Friede into holding a special training session for the rookies: this time, Sprigatito and Fuecoco faced off against Captain Pikachu and needed to land only a single hit on the Mouse Pokémon to win the match. While they initially struggled against his Double Team, Sprigatito managed to almost score a Scratch after her Trainer figured out Pikachu's behavior. After a lunch break, Sprigatito battled against Fuecoco once more in order to see how much the special training paid off. In the end, despite being at a type disadvantage, Sprigatito knocked Fuecoco out with her newly-learned Quick Attack, giving Liko the win. This battle was the first step for the new Rising Volt Tacklers to get closer to Dot, who let them know that the Black Rayquaza was in Paldea.

Sprigatito retrieves Liko's pendant

In HZ014, Sprigatito and Liko went to Levincia after her Trainer saw an advertisement for the Spicy Herba Mystica that Murdock had wanted. However, unbeknownst to both of them, this was a trap set up by Spinel in order to steal Liko's pendant. After arriving in a dark alley, Sprigatito was put in a trance by Spinel's Beheeyem as he easily stole the pendant. It was later revealed in the next episode that Sprigatito went through a memory wipe thanks to Beheeyem, but regained her memory piece by piece. After jumping off a building with Liko, Sprigatito reunited with the Rising Volt Tacklers. In HZ016, Sprigatito teamed up with Roy's Pokémon and Dot's Quaxly to battle Spinel's Pokémon. Although they were able to defeat his Magneton and Beheeyem, they nearly lost to his Umbreon. However, Sprigatito was able to get Liko's pedant back from Spinel.

In HZ020, Sprigatito participated in a Gym challenge set up by Motostoke's Gym Leader Kabu. Sprigatito's role was to extinguish the Litwick flames while Fuecoco attempted to keep them lit. Sprigatito ended up gaining the advantage, only for Liko to give up on the challenge when she noticed Roy's improvement, upsetting Sprigatito. It then went on to battle alongside Fuecoco against Kabu's Centiskorch and Wakaba's Rolycoly. The two were unable to defeat Centiskorch and, when faced off against Rolycoly, Liko forfeited against Sprigatito's wishes so Wakaba could win, which increasingly upsets Sprigatito.

In HZ022, Sprigatito battled against the Explores alongside Fuecoco until they encounterd a Galarian Moltres that had an Ancient Poké Ball. After Moltres overwhelmd everyone and left Captain Pikachu injured, Sprigatito left the Galar Mine with Liko, Roy, and the Mouse Pokémon. In the next episode, Sprigatito was brought to the Motostoke Pokémon Center in order to recover. After recovering, Sprigatito battled Moltres again in an attempt to calm down the angry Pokémon. With the help of Arboliva's Seed Sower, it increased the power of Sprigatito's Leafage in order to have her sweet scent reach Moltres. This calmed the Legendary Pokémon down, and it returned to its Ancient Poké Ball, which allowed Liko take it under her care.

Personality and characteristics

Sprigatito being easily provoked

Sprigatito has shown to be brave, headstrong, and somewhat reckless. However, unlike her species, Sprigatito isn't the affectionate type nor an attention-seeker. Sprigatito also does not like receiving affection as she is hostile to humans. Despite her initial coldness towards those around her, Sprigatito has shown to be relaxed and enjoys sunbathing. Sprigatito has also shown to not be easily impressed with various things, such as Roy's singing in HZ005. As revealed in HZ007, Sprigatito is shown to like dry-flavored food, like matcha cupcakes. Sprigatito also enjoys sweets, as seen in HZ019, when she was shown to like the taste of Murdock's Alcremie's cream. In addition, Sprigatito is easily startled by loud noises and is also easily provoked, as seen during her training against Captain Pikachu, in which its Double Team copies easily frustrated the Grass Cat Pokémon. Despite being a Grass-type Pokémon, Sprigatito doesn't like water.

Initially, Sprigatito didn't listen to Liko's commands as she wasn't interested in her, preferring to sit out on the roof of the Indigo Academy instead of hanging out with her. However, after witnessing her Trainer attempt to understand its habits, Sprigatito started to care about Liko and came to appreciate her affection, often sitting on her shoulder or head, or being held in her Trainer's arms. Although her bond with Liko is pretty strong, Sprigatito at times gets upset with her Trainer, especially in Pokémon battles, as seen in HZ020, when she got upset with her for forfeiting both the Gym challenge and the battle against Wakaba, but does understand her well-meaning intentions to help their friends.

Sprigatito and Hatenna

Ever since the events of HZ002, Sprigatito mellowed out and has shown to no longer be hostile towards others, as she became friendly with both people and Pokémon. However, despite her improvement in interacting with people and Pokémon, Sprigatito still shows her hostile side at times, as seen in HZ024, when she tried to scratch Diana, even though she Liko's grandmother. Sprigatito is also free-spirited as she enjoys playing and running around. Much like her Trainer, Sprigatito can be cautious of trusting others, as seen in HZ001, when she growled at Amethio after he presented himself as a representative of Liko's grandmother.

Sprigatito has shown to get jealous of other Pokémon winning Liko's affection, as seen in HZ009, where she immediately grew jealous of Alex's Fidough getting along with her Trainer. However, Sprigatito quickly let go of her grudge against Fidough and befriended it. This was shown again in HZ026, when she got jealous of Terapagos for taking Liko's attention. Although, when Liko met a wild Hatenna and took care of her in HZ021, Sprigatito didn't show any sigh of jealousy towards her, as she helped her Trainer look after the Calm Pokémon, which led them to form a close friendship and become teammates when her Trainer caught her, as she encourage her to stay with them. After Hatenna joined the group, Sprigatito became protective of her, as she came to see her as her little sister and would get concern when she would wonder off on her own, as seen in HZ027, when she ran away from Dot's strong emotions, but was relieved that the she was safe when the group found her.

Sprigatito is capable of releasing a sweet scent from her paws that relaxes those who smell it. As shown in her battle against Zirc's Rhydon, it is strong enough to put a Pokémon to sleep in the middle of a battle. This was shown again in HZ023, when Sprigatito's sweet scent was able to calm a Galarian Moltres down, although she had help in Friede and Roy's Pokémon. Sunbathing will strengthen the power of her sweet scent. She has also been shown using Leafage to blind opponents on multiple occasions as a way to circumvent its lack of strength. Sprigatito also has come to enjoy battling and developed a desire to become stronger.

Description: Sprigatito kneads its forepaws at the ground repeatedly, causing a soothing aroma to begin wafting into the air. It then fires off several Leafage attacks, spreading the aroma all around the area to calm down the target. Wattrel and Charizard flap their wings to blow the aromatic Leafage in the opponent's direction. This was used to calm down Lucius's Galarian Moltres.
