The Friend Safari (Japanese: フレンドサファリ Friend Safari) is a facility in Kiloude City where Trainers can catch Pokémon that can not normally be found in their journeys.
It is the only place where the evolutions of starter Pokémon can appear in the wild.
Overview
Once the player has entered the Hall of Fame, they are able to access Kiloude City and thus the Friend Safari. When a player has registered someone else's 3DS Friend Code in their own 3DS, they are able to access the other player's specific Friend Safari, regardless of whether that player has played Pokémon X and Y or not. Each Friend Code has a designated Pokémon type with specific obtainable Pokémon assigned to its Friend Safari that cannot be changed. As such, any player who has a single Friend Code registered in their 3DS will have access to that player's specific, unchangeable Friend Safari.
Players cannot access their own Friend Safari.
Pokémon
All Pokémon that appear in the Friend Safari are level 30 (causing some, such as Muk and Drapion, to be obtained underleveled) and are guaranteed to have at least two IVs of 31. Pokémon can be found in the Friend Safari regardless of being version-exclusive Pokémon or not obtainable in either version. Any given player has three Pokémon available for capture in their Friend Safari, with only two showing up until they have entered the Hall of Fame. All three Pokémon are of the type designated to that player's Friend Code. After both players have been online in the game at the same time, their character silhouette in the Safari menu will change from "?" to the picture representing their in-game character; after this, there is a chance that the Pokémon in that person's Safari will have their Hidden Abilities.
Cascoon, a pure Bug-type Pokémon, is the only known Pokémon that is found in a Friend Safari that is not its own type as it is found within a Poison-type Friend Safari instead, although its evolution, Dustox, is part-Poison-type.
Note that "rate" in the tables below refers to the likelihood for a Pokémon to be available in a Friend Safari at all, not its encounter rate.
