Masks in the Manga
Just to get this off CoolPikachu!'s talk page. The Shadow Triad wear masks in the manga that are based on Pansage, Panpour, and Pansear's facial markings (just above their mouths). There seems to be some disagreement on whether this should be added or not. I feel it's as notable (and obvious) as Marina wearing a Kyogre costume, or Carny being based on Carnivine. Should this be added? If so, should it be considered trivia, or part of the main section for the manga? ★Jo the Marten★ ಠ_ಠ♥ 19:55, 21 June 2011 (UTC)
- I agree that it's notable. Nobody can say that it could be pure coincidence. And don't we always mention clothing resembling Pokémon? Like Colosseum Leaders, Fantina, Riley, Spenser, Zero, Bianca and many others.--電禅Den Zen 20:09, 21 June 2011 (UTC)
- Same here. Just look at this image for reference (Please ignore the Striaton Gym Leaders. This image was made to make fun of the whole "Chili, Cress, and Cilan being the ST" rumor. I am only using this to make the connection of the masks and the monkey's faces). Ataro 20:25, 21 June 2011 (UTC)
- But there's nothing to relate them to the elemental monkeys, meaning there's no proof of a relation and until there is, it should be treated like a coincidence (because it's not fact, it's an observation). The Colosseum leaders are blatantly cosplaying, everyone else is in some way related to the pokémon they're more subtly resembling, and nothing connects the monkeys to the Triad (yet) while we're accused of supporting the Triad = triplets theory (which we're shouldn't be speculating anyway, much to my heartbreak), because until the third game comes out, it's still very much a theory. It's trivia until there's evidence it isn't a coincidence, because it's not important (yet). ...Don't say I don't think it is; I'm pretty sure it's on purpose. Luna Tiger * the Arc Toraph 20:39, 21 June 2011 (UTC)
- Just for fun, I noticed the shading of the masks is the same as the monkeys fur (Panpour is a bit lighter though). If they were black masks, they'd all just be a solid black (like how their clothes are) so it's completely possible that their masks are colored red, blue, and green. If a colored picture of them is released, and they are colored, are we still going to say it's coincidence? ★Jo the Marten★ ಠ_ಠ♥ 21:01, 21 June 2011 (UTC)
- We aren't trying to say that they are based on them, as Dennou Zenshi pointed out on PsychicRider's talk. We are not trying to say they are related. And we certainly are not trying to say that they are the Striaton Gym Leaders. Those would be opinions. All we want to say is that the patterns are identical. I don't think this automatically should relate to speculation and opinion by stating an obvious fact that the masks look like the monkey's face patterns. If the Striaton Gym Leaders didn't use these Pokémon I bet this wouldn't even be an issue.

- Of course, IMO, they do have one thing in common with the monkeys that people seem to be ignoring. There are three monkeys and there's three of them. So... it's not that strange to think that they may have been based on them. But again, my opinion and it shouldn't be incorporated in the article. --ケンジのガール 21:11, 21 June 2011 (UTC)
Why can't I mention that their appearence has changed? I'm sure changes like that are supposed to be notable (Aloe, Rosie, Girafarig, Charmander etc.) and it's not really so minor change after all.--電禅Den Zen 04:13, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
- I don't want to sound like if I'm forcing the theory but I believe that if the page was coloured they would be Blue, Red and Green respectively because the artist used the same type of Screentone than in the monkeys. LurKasumi 06:51, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
- I think the style of the masks changing is something quite important which should be noted. The masks were originally plain and now they vary in shape. They now resemble the face patterns on the elemental monkeys. It is the same shape—that is not an opinion. That is all that needs to be noted, that the shape is the same. To use this as evidence for anything else—such as claiming that the triad owns the monkeys—would be an opinion, but the fact that they are the same shape is just plain fact. I'm willing to accept that it could a co-incidence, but that doesn't mean that we shouldn't note it. --SnorlaxMonster 07:21, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
- ^ I 105% agree, and that's exactly what I've been telling CP & others. It's much more notable than things like "Riley has a Groudon-patterned necklace" or "Lapras had small teeth in Gen I". In fact, the Triad's case is a combination of two notable facts: their appearence has changed and their clothing resembles Pokémon. That's why it should definitely be added.--電禅Den Zen 13:55, 20 July 2011 (UTC)

So, is there anyone who's still opposing to add it as trivia despite of above reasons? And if there is, why?--電禅Den Zen 13:56, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
Take The Player to N or Ghestis?
Im not sure how to word this so I'm just gonna say it. They never really "take" or "bring" anyone anywhere. Every single time they show up, they do the same thing: Push you in the direction you were already going. I think this is an important distinction between what they do and what the page says they do.
But as I said above, I have no idea how to word this in any way that doesnt make it sound incredibly silly. But it is what happens! PowerPlantRaichu 00:36, 10 November 2011 (UTC)
- I don't think it is a push, but an escort. You're surrounded by ninjas, so you go where they want you to go. --SnorlaxMonster 12:33, 10 November 2011 (UTC)
Genders?
Has anything ever been said in canon regarding the genders of these three? Because a lot of people seem to be confused, including me. Yamiidenryuu 04:20, 19 February 2012 (UTC)
- Fairly certain they're male. Their designs in the manga seem very masculine. ★Jo the Marten★ ಠ_ಠ♥ 04:24, 19 February 2012 (UTC)
- Alright, but is there anything in the games themselves confirming that? I think N referred to them as "men" at some point, but that might just have been the translation. Yamiidenryuu 16:20, 19 February 2012 (UTC)
- These are two times N talks about the Shadow Triad:

- "Ah, yes. That was the Shadow Triad, just now. Ghetsis enlisted them in Team Plasma. Apparently, they were the ones who prepared the Galvantula nest at the cave entrance."
- "I told Ghetsis about you and your friends. After I did, he apparently used the Shadow Triad to find out about you."
- No gender is mentioned. Of course, he uses "they", so if you checked it in a translation to a gendered language (e.g. French), you would probably find that he refers to them as "ils" (French), meaning that at least one of them is male. This is of course a translation though, so doesn't really have a bearing on canon. --SnorlaxMonster 11:08, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
- Alright, thanks. I guess what I heard about him calling them "men" was just other people misremembering things (or from a fan translation). Yamiidenryuu 15:02, 20 February 2012 (UTC)

- From the looks of it in the B/W2 anime-style trailer, they appear to all be male. Schiffy 19:18, 17 May 2012 (UTC)
Theory not in Article
I've noticed that the Triad Theory isn't in the article so I decided I was going to add. I made two edits and both were deleted. Any reason why? Ace trainer R 07:23, 10 June 2012 (UTC)
- Because it is speculation. There is no solid proof that they're the Striaton trio.--ForceFire 07:26, 10 June 2012 (UTC)
- Because it's just a theory, and not a fact. And believe me, as much as I'd like it to be true, there's not enough solid evidence to support it. So it's still just fan speculation. ★Jo the Marten★ ಠ_ಠ♥ 07:28, 10 June 2012 (UTC)

Payout
I am sure the first one has different payout in Plasma Frigate. Marked +-+-+ (talk) 14:27, 21 September 2012 (UTC)
This payout is sooo very wrong.
I am VERY sure that the first one on Plasma Frigate has irregular payout. He payed out only 5000 or so (like here)*. The other two have payout of 9180* with Pokémon at Normal Mode level, which is oddly put as CM payout, but that's false... who the hell did these templates? 8640 isn't even divisible by 51, as it gives 169,411765. Also, the payout for first battle is the same in Normal Mode, but different in CM? (8640 in first four vs 9360 in first and 9180 in next three; the second battle is an exception as it has irregular payout, similar to Clerk or that one guy disguised as Janitor). Funnily enough 8460/48 = 180; the same as other two on ship (CM is also 180). The CM payout for the other two is also wrong as 9180/55... Icirrus City's payouts are okay, though...
tl;dr = Most of the payouts are wrooong and they must be rechecked and changed. Marked +-+-+ (talk) 15:14, 30 October 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah, I should have checked more carefully. Messed up because someone put different numbers at the Plasma Frigate. Sorry! I'll recheck it later, unless someone else manages to do it before me. Torpoleon (talk) 16:49, 30 October 2012 (UTC)
