If I remember correct MissingNo doesn't have a standard TM/HM set...- unsigned comment from Arty2 (talk • contribs)
Ehem. If MISSINGNO has a hex, it has a HM/TM list as well, asigned to the HEX. WHEEE
Darkmewham2!
I am also unsure about the validity of the HM/TM list and for its base stats too. In my opinion these values are semi-random, depending on the memory part that affects its appearence. Maybe someone can run some research on that? On and please don't come up with another "if it has a hex" line again... --Arty2 20:00, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
I added more TMs to the list, as seen on [1]. They did extensive research into such glitches as Missingno., and came up with that TM and HM list. --Missingno. Master 10:53, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
Hex codes for fossil/ghost
Do you think this page should include the hex codes and letters for the special Missingno. sprites? Kabutops fossil is 86 (lowercase w), Aerodactyl is 87 (lower x), and Ghost is 88 (lower y). --隼也 じゅんや 16:55, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
Either missingno. or some other glitch somehow did permanent damage to my Red.
The bit in a rom storing the color pallete for GBC/GBA/Super Game Boy was somehow modified, and so my game has screwed up colors. Does anyone know how it's even possible for this value to be modified? I assumed it was hardcoded. Also, is there a gameshark code I could use that will correct this value? --1338h4x 23:36, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
- Does it affect the entire game? Or only happen when your game is loaded? MK 02:17, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
- The whole game, no matter how many times I erase data. Aside from the strange colors though, the rest of the game functions fine. --1338h4x 23:41, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
- Well, that's strange. I always thought the default GBC colors were coded into the system. Maybe it depends on the game. --Libertyernie 19:36, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
- If you press buttons while the GBC is booting up, you can change the palette. I take it this defines a set handful of colors for the game to draw upon, each one assigned to a value. --1338h4x 00:58, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

Power Plant coast?
Is it possible in Pokémon Red & Blue to catch Missingno. or other non-water Pokémon on the coast near the Power Plant rather than the Cinnabar coast? I broke my Blue (by foolishly using a Game Genie) so I can't test it out. --Libertyernie 19:36, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
- I doubt it. The reason the missingno glitch occurs is that Cinnabar has no Pokemon defined for surf encounters, despite the existance of one stip of water, the coast. As such, the variable for encounters is set at whatever it was last, like the safari zone. Old Man's weedle is either M or Missingno, I forget which. Your other encounters are determined by your name, since that's where the game chooses to store the string while replacing your name with OLD MAN. --1338h4x 00:58, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
DP Missingno.?
I've seen that video on YouTube before, and I figured that it needed mentioning here in Missingno.'s article, since it has the similar appearance. Anyway, does anyone have DP who's tried the glitch who can give a firsthand account? Tom Temprotran 13:06, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

MissingNo. in the Japanese green verison?
Does MissingNo. appear in the Japanese green verison? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Asukagirl (talk • contribs).
- Far as I know it does. Our Blue was based off Green's wild Pokémon, so if it's there in Blue, it's there in Green. Tom Temprotran 03:21, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
Remember the old rumors?
I remember back in the day, like... eight years ago? Anyhow, I remember the stories that were circulating around GameFAQs and Pokemon fansites about... well, this and other things, but this one especially. I remember the best being that if you see missingno., you needed to immediately kill it to prevent your game from being fried. I dunno about you guys, but since this was before the internet was really huge, I start selling people khangaskans. Never hurt me, except I lost a file on my Red once. But I had like, ninty kangaskans, so I would trade them to other kids for like, twenty bucks. I was rolling in dough for several weeks. It was great.
Seafoam Islands
Why isn't the fact that MissingNo. can also be found at Seafoam Island mentioned here? Even Pokemon.com mentioned this fact once when they mentioned the Safari Zone glitch. Of coarse, they did make a mistake when they said that MissingNo. can appear if you preform the Safari Zone Glitch and not the MissingNo. glitch itself. I'd like to add that part to this article, however, I won't until someone else agrees with me on this issue or better yet, adds it themselves. --Jake 19:49, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
I think it's not in here because you can't find Missingno. at Seafoam Island. Yes, its coast has the same programming error as Cinnibar, but you can't get to Seafoam Island directly from Viridian like you can with Cinnibar. You have to SURF from Fuchsia or Cinnibar, and entering a route with wild Pokemon during the glitch process effectively nullifies it. Fsilone 02:32, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
- You can. Routes 19 and 20 only have data for Pokémon found while surfing. No grass. Grass data is used for the coasts. TTEchidnaGSDS! 02:58, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
Spacety space space
Note there is an extra space in front of the Ghost Missingno.'s name. Compare it to the regular. Thought I'd give a mention. TinaTheKirlia 22:26, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

Missingno. or MissingNo.?
Seriously? TTEchidna 05:23, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
- How can we ever really tell? I mean, all names in the games are in capitals, and Missingno. is not an official character, so there's no references or published stuff to check it against... --DarkfireTaimatsu 05:27, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
- That's my question, what was so wrong about leaving it as Missingno.?
- As for references, well... we COULD ask Nintendo their stance on the name... I've had Insomniac answer more meaningless questions. TTEchidna 09:41, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
- I've seen an email by Nintendo about Missingno... and I've pretty sure they spelled it "MissingNo.". (Not that I spell it that way, haha.) TinaTheKirlia File:281MS.gif 15:47, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
I dont think it really is a glitch, really! File:Ani491MS.gifKPF☆ 16:49, 14 November 2007 (UTC) Um. But it IS a glitch. o.o; Tina☆♥♫δ 18:31, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, Nintendo spells it "MissingNO". Notice the lack of a period. I think they just emphasize the last two letters in an attempt to dissuade players from going after it. I think its name is rightfully Missingno., and that the page should be moved to reflect this. If nobody objects, I will do it. I'm Missingno. Master, and I approve this message. 20:02, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
- I would suggest sticking with Missingno. as well, similar to how we use Hoothoot instead of HootHoot. The period is pretty much mandatory too, as the games clearly show that it has one (and the abbreviation "no." always has it). IIMarckus 21:09, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
- Flawless logic if ever I heard it. Alrighty, then! If there are no objections, then the move will be effected immediately. I'm Missingno. Master, and I approve this message. 21:13, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

Other forms?
Can someone upload sprites of Missingno.'s other forms? You know, the ghost (and the Wild MISSINGNO. appeared! screenshot doesn't count), the Aerodactyl skeleton, and the Kabutops skeleton? I'd do it myself, if I knew how. Missingno. Master 23:57, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

Because, seriously, Missingno. didn't appeared in the anime. Those were ghosts created by Ghastly which was strong enough to confuse Ash's Pokedex. Does Ghastly have a move that can instantly create a Missingno. in the games? I don't think so. >_> File:Ani026MS.gifMudkipchanFile:Ani392MS.gif
Does it have a move that can create ghosts instantly? Didn't think so. Besides, why do you assume Gastly created them? For all we know, it could be its minions.

The Japanese name
Do Ketsuban come from the kana within the old japanese games? Because, a "ketsuban" is a kind of annoying moskito wich dwells in lakes and rivers. I'm mentioning this because this "non-pokemon" uses some water and "flying" attacks, wich perhaps are related to being that moskito. Someone get this? --Gaudhi 20:05, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

- Missingno. isn't really a Pokémon.. it doesn't have gender differences, it doesn't need a Biology section, etc... Tina δ♫ 03:41, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
It's a glitch Pokémon, it's there, it's in the game, you can not deny that. There is no problem in having biology for glitch Pokémon, because they are still actual Pokémon. What do you have against game location of Missingno.? Or it's special abilities? There is no problem with them being there. GlinnFile:Ani202MS.gif 03:47, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
- Nintendo does not consider it a Pokémon, and consensus seems to be that we don't either. We don't need a "gender differences" section for a (glitch) Pokémon that has no gender. True, but that is a more detailed explanation, where as the one Missingno. Master was putting was just simple. If people wanted more information, they could just scroll up/down the page. Missingno and Togetic
I remember reading in a book somewhere that the 'orignal' Missingno. (from Red/Blue, NOT YELLOW) could be traded to Pokemon Yellow, and that when traded to Pokemon Yellow, Missingno. (or was it 'M?) would gain the same Pokedex number that Togetic has in the G/S/C Pokedex. I don't know where this info should be put, however, so I've not added the term.

- I mean, Missingno. has a sprite, a cry, stats, attacks.... Missingno. has a name that indicates an error message and a cry that is the default one at its shortest length. Sprite, stats, and attacks are not relevant, because those aren't really a sprite or stats or attacks -- they're seemingly random data, not physically defined for Missingno. itself. Missingno. is not a full-fledged "Pokemon." A beta Pokemon, perhaps. Filler data, more likely. But not an actual Pokemon. IIMarckus 02:29, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
- Sprite stats and attacks are not relevent... Yes they are! Stop being desperate and admit Missingno Master + Hfc2x have the better point! PokemonTrainer7738 15:16, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
- I'm saying that Missingno.'s sprite and stats and attacks are not relevant because they're not really sprites, stats, or attacks. Is that hard to understand? IIMarckus 21:14, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
- MissingNo. has stats, sprite and cry like every Pokémon, because there's no other way to explain why it ALWAYS has the same base stats, the same sprite, the same cry and the same attacks. Yeah, it's a beta-Pokémon, but still a Pokémon. I know that you don't want it to be, 'cause nintendo did never release it as oficial, but the game (and many people) still considers it as a normal Pokémon. hfc2X 04:41, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
- there's no other way to explain why it ALWAYS has the same base stats, the same sprite, the same cry and the same attacks. Sure there is -- the data is always being pulled from the same location in the ROM, even though that's not its intended use. Missingno's cry is a real cry, its name is a real name, but its sprite is not a sprite, its stats are not stats, and its attacks are not attacks; they're just (incorrectly) being interpreted that way by the game engine. IIMarckus 22:19, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

- OK, from what you just said, I can only assume you saw the word delete and assummed that some newbie wanted this article deleted. Couldn't be further from the truth. If you had actually read this section, you'd realize that a user made a new Missingno. Infobox that could incorporate japanese names, and put it on this article, not knowing that I had deemed said infobox redundant and had put a deletion tag on the infobox. The deletion tag then showed up on this page. This section was started to clear the confusion. This page never was up for deletion, the infobox was. I'm Missingno. relations
if u look closely at the sprites of the missingno. u would find that it hs a resemblance to a letter. Ghost:lower part of the body looks like a 'Y'. Aerodactyl: overall skeleton looks like >--< which looks like 'X'.Kabutops : upper body (chest) looks like 'W'. i think this is worth mentioning in the trivia.--Nobody777 13:21, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
Ummm. No. One persons ideas are not enough to make noteworthy. MidnightCeltic 13:32, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
but u agree. so if an admin sees my note above he\she might agree and post it at the trivia. but u agree,right?--Nobody777 13:42, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
No I don't agree. but yes, I'd happily disregard if an Admin posted it. MidnightCeltic 13:44, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
just look accurately at it and DEEPLY and try to remember the shapes and places.--Nobody777 13:51, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
Okay, I look at it clearly, and DEEPLY as you say, and on the ghost... I see a Ghost. On the Aerodactyl... I see the skeleton of an Aerodactyl, and on the Kabutops... I see the skeleton of a Kabutops. But again, if an Admin agrees, I'll agree. MidnightCeltic 23:37, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
MissingNo. altering save file
I saw the article about how "harmless" MissingNo. is to your save file and edited it. I have encountered an altered save file MYSELF. And it had NOTHING to do with my Red cartridge freezing. After catching MissingNo. I encountered some issues with the Hall of Fame, which didn't bother me, as it's a minor issue and all. The worst of all issues came afterwards. When I loaded my save files and decided to challenge the elite four again - notably with my Mewtwo-Mew Team (the Mew was legitimely mine, as I won a Pokémon quiz), I realized, that only box number 19 had some Pokémon in it. All other boxes where empty. This didn't suit me at all, for my team was made of low-lvl Pokémon that were put in for training purpose only, and my "dream team" was gone, at least most of it.
I'd like you to NOT say the "save file alternation" to be only a rumour, for it really hurts my pride, especially after the loss of my legitimate Mew and the loss of my legendary bird-trio!
- Pokémon Red and Blue are old games. Yours might just be conking out naturally. Don't you dare blame Missingno. for this. If you had captured a Tauros and found that your boxes started to delete themselves, would you have said that Tauros can delete your Pokémon? I'm Missingno. Master, and I approve this message. 11:08, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

And when we do, Glitch Pokémon and "official" Pokémon will be considered equal by all! I'm Missingno. Master, and I approve this message. 22:26, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
ok.... now you just sound like an evil madman. if missingno. is "real" then how come it doesnt exsist in any other gen? jynx is considerd racist but wasnt removed. kadabra was sued but still exsists. porygon cauzed seizures and GAINED popularity. no Pokémon was ever removed completely. and missingno. is gone. hes a glitch. face it.Whatswithalltheextraspace 22:38, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
- But, the fact still remains that Missingno. has stats, a cry, moves, and TM/HM compatibility, and it can be captured in a Poké Ball. All characteristics of Pokémon. Sure, it occured accidentially, but wasn't the creation of bubblegum also an accident? And look how that turned out. I'm sure that in due time, Game Freak will realize their mistake in removing Missingno. and the other Glitch Pokémon. I'm Missingno. Master, and I approve this message. 22:52, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

1: Bubblegum was created when someone was trying to create a new kind of rubber. Hence, accident.
2; Only half-idiot? Thanks... I think.
3; With all due respect, I doubt you have the authority to tell me which pages I can keep and which pages I can or can't access.

- Boy, no ofense, but you have serious problems. I consider MissingNo. a Pokémon too, and I'm the person who redone this article to look like the other Pokémon. I also REALLY REALLY HATE cheats and cheaters, but I do not oppose that articles like that exist in bulbapedia. Guy this is a Pokémon Encyclopedia and should include EVERYTHING on Pokémon, not only what you want to include. hfc2X 01:30, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
- As much as I don't agree with half of what the Order of the Glitch claims or says (like being a secret society despite advertising themselves so much), Missingno is a very important historical event in Pokémon. It may not be an official critter but it has affected the fandom way more than something like the move Splash or even a couple baby Pokemon we really don't care about. This is a Pokémon wiki, and glitch or not, Missingno is still part of this fandom and is the most prominant glitch out there.--Outrage DD 03:45, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
Trivia
If we talk about its weight and height in the trivia, could we at least talk about what it actually IS? ht14 01:55, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

Should 'Form' be spelled 'Forme"?
Just a thought, but shouldn't the forms be listed as "Normal Forme" etc.? If Deoxys was changed, this should be too. --Alex S. 02:10, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
- Deoxys is official. Missingno. was never meant to be seen by the public. It's also not legendary. TTEchidna 02:14, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
- No, "forme" is an incorrect spelling caused by a mistaken Japanese scan. Anything that has ever been displayed with that dreadful misspelling will be reverted to the correct "form" spelling. For example, it's "Normal Form", "Attack Form", and the like for Deoxys, "Another Form" and "Origin Form" for Giratina, "Land Form" and "Sky Form" for Shaymin, and so on and so forth. Once Giratina's Origin Form is officially revealed--and it WILL be called "Origin Form"--this whole paranoia will evaporate, this whole "forme" bull**** will blow over, and no damage will be done overall.
- Simply put, "form" is correct, always has been, and always will be regardless of Pokémon. It should not be changed. --Shiningpikablu252 02:16, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
- A mistake that's easily correctable. --Shiningpikablu252 02:29, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
3rd slowest Pokemon
"and the third lowest Speed base stat, only losing to Shuckle and Munchlax whom each have a base Speed of 5 each." However $ has a speed stat of just 2 according to it's page.--Tails Clock 23:00, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
Weight?
Trivia claims it to be heavier than Groudon (also twice the size of 'M) yet its size and weight is not referenced in the article.--Outrage DD 03:38, 9 October 2008 (UTC) Argh noticed the other topic on this, but seriously, how can one claim it to be heavier if they show no proof?

Level 100 Missingno.
I added that when a Missingno. over level 100 gains battle experience and levels up, it permanently becomes level 100. LordArceus 19:01, 22 October 2008 (UTC)
This is the case for all Pokémon over level 100, and is not limited to Missingno. Also, please use the + button at the top of the page when adding a new talk page section; it helps keep things more organized. IIMarckus 01:30, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
- Of course, but MissingNo. is the poster Pokémon for glitches. I think the most appropriate place to state that would be here, because it would take an annoyingly long time and be redundant to say it in the article of every Pokémon catchable at over Level 100. LordArceus 17:37, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
This is a lie... in my pokemon blue version... a LONG time ago... i caught a few missingno.s actually i filled a box for them then i did the rare candy cheat and raised it one lvl. it became lvl 1 and it was a picture of a pokemon(same as a ryhorn...i think...) then i raised it 100 lvls it became a little boy... 100 more it was a teenage girl i think... 100 more a teenage boy... then 100 more a woman... then 100 more... it was a man... then 100 more... now this was the wierd part... it was a grandpa... then it was a grandma 100 more... then 1 more it was a lvl 1 kangaskhan... oh and this was only for the icons and my icons did NOT move... like it was the little picture on the side that moves it changed every 100 rc and you could only tell the numbers by the numbers on the rare candy...

Well, is the main type Normal or Bird? The big box at the right says the main type is Normal, but in all the templates the type colours are reversed as well as they are listed as Bird/Normal in the leading paragraph before the TOC. Um, yeah. I was reading the article and took a glance at the dietary habits of MissingNo.. I'm sorry, but I'd like to see MissingNo. or any other glitch pokemon try to eat pokémon food... It's not that farfetch'd(poké-pun intended), because multiple fangames have MissingNo. as a pokemon. At least one even made an evolution for it!
