The girl sends her {{p|Torchic}} to attack [[Nana]], causing Ruby to scream in horror as Nana's hair is burnt. After being informed of the situation, [[Professor Birch]] tells Ruby to take one of the two Pokémon in his bag for protection.

Trying to Trounce Torchic (Japanese: VS アチャモ VS Achamo), titled VS Torchic in the Chuang Yi translation, is the 183rd chapter of the Pokémon Adventures manga, and the third chapter of the Ruby & Sapphire arc.

It is subtitled The 80-Day Challenge (Japanese: 80日後の約束 80-Days Challenge) in the VIZ Media translation and 80-Days Challenge in the Chuang Yi translation.

Ruby figures out the girl he met is a human while she attacks him in anger. The girl sends her Torchic to attack Nana, causing Ruby to scream in horror as Nana's hair is burnt. After being informed of the situation, Professor Birch tells Ruby to take one of the two Pokémon in his bag for protection.

At Birch's suggestion, Ruby chooses the Water-type Pokémon, Mudkip. at first, he muses over what Contest category to use it in but decides to go for the Tough category. The girl continues attacking, even easily beating Mudkip in the process, and demands to know why he attacked her.
