Neutralizing Gas (Japanese: かがくへんかガス Chemical Change Gas) is an Ability introduced in Generation VIII. It is the signature Ability of Koffing's evolutionary lines.
Effect
In battle
This Ability effect may be in need of research. Reason: How does it affect other Abilities that cannot be suppressed? You can discuss this on the talk page. |
Neutralizing Gas suppresses the effects of Abilities of other Pokémon currently in battle.
Once Neutralizing Gas is no longer applying, Abilities that activate when a Pokémon is switched in (such as Intimidate) that were suppressed immediately activate regardless of whether they have already activated (except Unnerve, which applies without displaying a message, and Imposter). If it stops applying because the Pokémon with Neutralizing Gas is switched out, those Abilities activate before the switch occurs (e.g. if Intimidate is activated this way, it will decrease the Attack of the Pokémon with Neutralizing Gas before it switches out).
Neutralizing Gas cannot suppress Neutralizing Gas, Stance Change, or Schooling.
Neutralizing Gas cannot be copied by Trace.
Outside of battle
Neutralizing Gas has no effect outside of battle.
