The Safari Zone is a special Pokémon preserve where Trainers can enter to capture rare or foreign Pokémon.

Trainers pay for admission and are given Safari Balls to use to capture Pokémon. They cannot use their own Pokémon to battle wild Pokémon, but must instead use rocks, bait, and Pokéblocks to coax wild Pokémon into being captured.

There are two Safari Zones. One in Kanto, and one in Hoenn. They have different setups, rules, and available Pokémon in each.

The Kanto Safari Zone is run by Warden Slowpoke. In the Generation II games, Warden Slowpoke leaves on a trip and the Safari Zone is closed down.

Generation I

These Pokémon are found in the Safari Zone in the Generation I games. They can also be found in the Safai Zone in Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen.

Generation III

These Pokémon are found in the Hoenn Safari Zone in Lilycove City. In Pokémon Emerald, many Johto Pokémon appear in two special areas after defeating the Elite Four. Here are the Pokémon in the Hoenn Safari Zone.
