There is an alternate mix of the song on the single. The TV version is most likely based on the POWER MIX. The POWER MIX also appears on the Genki!! Ippai!! Pokémon Song Collection album. |
GLORY DAY 〜輝くその日〜 (GLORY DAY ~Kagayaku Sono Hi~; English: GLORY DAY ~That Shining Day~) was the fifth ending theme song of the Japanese Advanced Generation Pokémon anime series.
It debuted in AG099, and a second cut with different lyrics debuted in AG109; the second cut is the current series ending as of the most recent Japanese episode. In AG120 it was changed to include May's Munchlax. It was changed again in AG124 to include Ash's Glalie. Glory Day was then replaced by Pokémon Counting Song in AG135. Glory Day returned once again with a new variant in AG150 which lasted until AG171 when it was replaced once again, this time by I won't lose! ~Haruka's theme~.
The animation for GLORY DAY contains the most complex animation seen in any Pokémon ending sequence. It features animated images on top of a moving sky background. Included are scenes of all the current major characters, their Pokémon, and all of Ash's past Pokémon.
The POWER MIX, most likely the version used for the television ending, is only slightly different from the original mix. It features an organ at the beginning and brass instead of synthesizer during the final bridge.
