Fake Out is a Template:Type2 move introduced in Generation III that deals a small amount of damage. Its Japanese name refers to a sumo technique used to confuse foes.

Effect

Fake Out is a first-strike move that always makes the target flinch. Although its accuracy is 100%, it "fails" if not used on the first turn the Pokémon is out, which is not technically a miss. Fake Out will hit Pokémon with the Inner Focus Ability but will not make them flinch, although they will still take damage.
