Final Preparation

Don't proceed to challenge the Elite Four yet. You must do some insanely serious preparation. The most serious one ever.

Cynthia

Remember Cynthia, the woman that gave you Cut and the SecretPotion for the Psyduck? Well, she's Sinnoh's Champion, and is far tougher than the Elite Four! She's extremely tough on her own, but the fact that you have to beat the Elite Four just to battle her makes this fight even more of a challenge, since your Pokémon will be tired.

Most of Cynthia's Pokémon have few weaknesses, and her Spiritomb has none! Her Milotic and Gastrodon are weak to Grass, with Gastrodon having a 4x weakness. However, it knows Sludge Bomb, a Template:Type2 move with 90 base power and a chance of poisoning the target. This will easily take out your Grass-types if you don't remember this. Gastrodon is immune to Template:Type2 moves, by the way, so don't try zapping it. Cynthia's Lucario is weak to Ground, Fire, and Fighting, but knows Earthquake and Psychic to dispose of Fire- and Fighting-type Pokémon. Her Roserade is weak to Fire, Flying, Psychic, and Ice, and doesn't know any moves to counter those types. Garchomp is weak to Dragon and has a 4x weakness to Ice. However, it knows Dragon Rush to deal with any Dragon-type you send out, and Brick Break to get rid of your Ice-types.

Cynthia starts out with Spiritomb. It knows some good moves, and has high defensive stats. Since it has no weakness, hit it with the most powerful moves at your disposal that aren't Normal-, Fighting-, Psychic-, or Poison-type. What she sends in next varies. When Cynthia sends out Gastrodon, take advantage of its abysmal Speed to strike it with a powerful Grass-type attack. Hit Lucario with a good move like Earthquake, Flamethrower, or even maybe Close Combat to take it out. Its defensive stats, for a Template:Type2, aren't the greatest. Milotic has Ice Beam to dispose of your Grass-type Pokémon, so Electric-type moves are your best option. It will use Aqua Ring to gradually restore HP, and knows Mirror Coat to deflect your Special moves right back at you for double the damage you did to it! To avoid this, use Physical moves (which, unfortunately, are only very rarely Electric). Watch out for Surf, which gets STAB. You'll really need to watch out when Cynthia sends in her signature Pokémon— Garchomp! This shark-like creature (which is at an astounding Level 66) will probably be what takes you out if you're unprepared. Its stats are on par with many Legendaries,’ and it will absolutely pulverize you if you underestimate it! Its two weaknesses are Dragon and Ice, and it knows moves to counter both those types. Your best strategy here is to send in a Pokémon that knows Special moves that it is weak to— Blizzard (if it hits) is capable of taking it out in one hit. All of Garchomp's moves will hurt, but Brick Break is the least damaging. Also, Dragon Rush only has a 75% chance of hitting. Giga Impact will undoubtably do a large amount of damage, but the recharging turn gives you an opportunity to knock it out. Give this battle all you've got, and don't feel bad if you lose!
