Yarn
- Not to be confused with Yarn Ball.

Yarn (Japanese: イトダマ Ball of Thread) is an item in Pokémon Friends. It can be earned by completing puzzles and is used to produce Pokémon plush when given to the Plush-O-Matic. Two balls of yarn can also be used from the catalog to make any kind of plush that the player has already made previously, excluding rare plushes which require four balls.
Each type of yarn also comes in a "Pretty Nice" variety, which is visually the same as the normal variety except it has a sparkly filter over it. Using pretty nice yarn in the Plush-O-Matic doubles the odds of getting a rare plush and gives the player a 25% chance to get a second plush from the same yarn.
Yarn is acquired each time the player untangles a set of three puzzles, with the yarn given depending on the player's performance in that set:
- All three puzzles completed within 40 seconds each: pretty nice yarn.
- One or two puzzles completed or all three puzzles attempted but failed or it took more than 40 seconds for any puzzle to complete: regular yarn.
- All three puzzles not attempted and failed: small yarn.
Small yarn itself cannot be used to make a plush, but accumulating five small yarn balls combines them into a random type of regular yarn ball.
Player also obtains yarn when they level up any puzzle for the first time, depending on the level:
- Levels 5-7: small yarn.
- Level 8: regular yarn.
- Level 9: pretty nice yarn.
Yarn can also be received as a reward for putting a certain number of stamps on the calendar.
