Reason: Images of the puzzles introduced in the version 1.1.0 update.

Puzzles are the main feature of Pokémon Friends. They are played to earn different types of yarn, which the player can use in the Plush-O-Matic to make various kinds of Pokémon plush.

Overall gameplay

When the player presses the "Untangle" button, they are assigned a timed series of 3 puzzles to complete. Each puzzle has a 60 second time limit, and a series of challenges.

In the mobile version, the player can only Untangle once per day, except that they may do so twice on their first day using the app. However, the player can replay the day's set of puzzles without a time limit as many times as they want by tapping the stamp in the calendar. If the player purchases the Basic Pack DLC (which is always included on the Nintendo Switch version), they can Untangle as often as they want, and can replay puzzles from the last two months.

When the player completes a part of the challenge, a section of the bar in the top left corner will light up green. Once all parts of the bar are filled, the puzzle is finished. A "Good Job" message will appear on the screen to let the player know that the puzzle is complete.

In puzzles that are controlled by tapping buttons, such as Minccino's Clean Sweep or Leapin' Litten, the player can go back one move at a time by tapping the undo button in the lower right corner. During any puzzle, the player can fully reset the current challenge by tapping the Koffing button in the upper right corner.

Once all 3 puzzles are complete, the player is shown how much yarn they untangled, and they will be rewarded yarn according to their performance:

  • All three puzzles completed within a time limit: pretty nice yarn.
  • One or two puzzles completed or all three puzzles attempted but failed or playes did not meet the time limit: regular yarn.
  • All three puzzles not attempted and failed: small yarn.

Puzzle levels

Each time a puzzle is successfully completed, the puzzle's level will increase. This causes it to become more challenging the next time it appears. Puzzle levels range between 1 and 9. Different levels are represented by different medals in the High Scores menu.

Level Range Title
Level 1–3 Poké Ball
Level 4–6 Great Ball
Level 7–8 Ultra Ball
Level 9 Master Ball
