Thanks for your contributions to the List of Japanese Pokémon Trading Card Game expansions and Miscellaneous Promotional cards (TCG)/2015-2018. I noticed that you're making a number of similar small edits to individual sections. Have you considered editing the whole page at once instead? It helps keep the page history in check and allows other people down the road to have an easier time when checking out how that page changed over time. I hope you understand! Are you editing via desktop or mobile? On desktop there is an "edit this page" button at the top of the page near history, discussion, etc. Mobile is similar, where you click the pencil at the top of the page instead of the pencil for each individual section. ^Maverick_Nate 07:45, 31 January 2023 (UTC)

TAG TEAM

Hey there! TAG TEAM is officially stylized in all caps, similar to Pokémon LEGEND, V-UNION, BREAK, and so on. All instances of TAG TEAM should be left in all caps to follow official styling. I hope you understand. ^Maverick_Nate 09:53, 10 March 2023 (UTC)

After checking a lot of instances, it was clear that the majority was written in lower case, the only page that was written in upper case is the article TAG TEAM (TCG), so for consistency, plus without lower case the links to the mechandise pages will not work. It looks like Bulbapedia was inconsistent with its wording with this term for the merchandise. When this kind of thing happens, it's good to check against official sources. It looks like "Tag Team Powers Collection" should have been changed to "TAG TEAM Powers Collection" on the merchandise page instead.

In order to make the links to the merch page work, all that needed to happen was changing the section header on the merch page to match the wording from the links. ^Maverick_Nate 12:32, 11 March 2023 (UTC)

Iono, DTE, Magma Basin

For now, I changed those three pages back to what they said before. For a decade+, Bulbapedia has followed that standard wording, so almost every card page is standardized to that wording. I think you've identified a confusing problem with that standard wording though: the intro says first released as part of the Brilliant Stars expansion and the release information says first released as part of the Star Birth expansion. You're completely right that this needs to change, but given it's a problem on thousands of pages, it needs a plan of attack that's more than just change one page here and there, or else it will be impossible to track what is done and what isn't. ^Maverick_Nate 05:25, 30 July 2023 (UTC)

Pokeca Art Life

Thanks for the run through with a fine-toothed comb! Some of the translations you provided were an improvement over what I had before. I did make a very small handful of counter-adjustments based on the feedback I received from my Japanese coworkers. I did have some general points I wanted to come to you directly about otherwise.

• Bulbapedia uses the serial comma per the Manual of Style, so I added those back in (I hope I caught them all).
• Some of the entries were pulling direct quotes from things like Pokédex entries from cards and Team Rocket mottos, so be careful about modifying those. Those should match the original source material.

Ahhhh, I understand. In general, the practices on the wiki for Japanese text that has a set English equivalent (think moves, Pokemon names, abilities, and consistent entries like this), it opts to provide what the localised version instead. Admittedly, this isn't the best practice. I was thinking adding "One swing of its mighty tail can snap a telephone pole {{tt|as if it were|literally: in two like}} a matchstick." would be an acceptable compromise. or this?, is it Yanakajii or Ya na kanji... And ask your colleagues about this...「やな感じー！」 ("I feel so bad!" when in quotes) but やな感じー！ (It feels so good! when not in quotes)... and this ニャ (Nya), ニャー (Nyā or meow), ニャーン (Meow), ン (n or hmm), ニャース (Nyāsu or Meowth), ス (su or vinegar) and should ニャーンテ　ニャ (Nyante nya) be ニャンニャ (Nyan'nya) or is it because there is no (th) only テ (te)? I was actually pulling from the translations offered on Team Rocket's mottos. Given the context of the post, I felt the best interpretation would be the one that is the most iconic, which is Jessie and James when they are blasting off, and Meowth at the end of the motto. I will say I didn't completely look too deeply beyond that, I just trusted what the motto page already had written and transcribed it from there. ^Maverick_Nate 14:46, 7 September 2023 (UTC)

That'll do then, just one final thing on that. Because it's the English translation, shouldn't it be "We're blasting off again! Meowth, that's right!" rather than the Japanese equivalent. I have changed it, so if I am mistaken you can change it back. Finger (talk) 15:23, 7 September 2023 (UTC)

I had originally believed that it should. I modified it based on what you offered a few posts above. But I do agree that the English translation we offer should match the English localization. I also think that should happen for the Pokedex entries, but you changed them back to not quoting the game text, so I'm a bit confused what happened there.

Otherwise, some of your translations are a bit too literal that they are losing the context/accuracy offered on some of these posts. You called move "ability", and Basic Pokémon "Seed Pokemon", and you called "Hige no hi" Beard day even though Galarian Mr.Mime and Galarian Weezing have mustaches and not beards, among some immediate examples. Other things include literal translations of things like ツインテール to Twintail, even though that's not a thing in English (We call that Ponytail). We are an English wiki, so we have to cater to our audience.

I'll be going through your changes one last time to bring back some of that accuracy. I will also be going through some of the post changes to modify the ones that I think could be improved still (only some, not many ^_^), but since translating like this is left up to individual interpretation, I won't be too picky lol. If we still disagree on some of them, I'd like to continue talking it out here, instead of going back and forth changing each other's edits, so that we can avoid starting an edit war and breaking the rules. ^Maverick_Nate 01:04, 8 September 2023 (UTC)

I understand what you're saying regarding the official Days, like Beard Day and Twin Tail Day, but these are the names of real Japanese events, surely it is disrespectful to Anglicise their names or change their dates simply because Americans may have never heard of them. Plus, there is Movember started by two friends in Australia in 2003, and celebrated internationally during the month of November, a World Beard Day on the first Saturday in September and the U.S. has its own Mustache day began on June 18, 1972 in Oakland, California, then there is an International Pigtail Day on 9th August and the U.S. has its own National Pig Tail Day on 3rd December. I used "Seed Pokemon" because it is the term used on Pokémon category, along with "Heel Pokemon" and "Wrestling Pokemon". As for the changes to the Pokedex entry text/game text, that's because I don't know the actual Pokedex entry text/game text, so I just translated what it says, and I have tried to be as literal/close as possible to the original text as per the digits debate. There are still many I think with translations that could be improved. P.S. I explained about the Meowth edit so that you'd understand my reasoning... All of these issues are present in your contributions to the article.

Recent edits

Hi. I've put you in a usergroup that requires the use of the preview button. 9 edits in the span of 10 minutes, like your edits to Detective Pikachu (TCG), are extremely excessive, when everything you did could have been done in 1 edit to the whole page instead of by section. In the future, please double check your edits *before* making excessive saves, because currently you are unecessarily spamming editor resources, like the Recent Changes and Page Histories. Since this is your second warning on the topic (please read Landfish's comment in the section above), further action will be taken the next time you don't follow this instruction. Please edit with more care in the future.

As for changing "Gallery" to "Pack artwork". The important thing to remember here is that there are users who rely on section headers to remain the same so that they can use Bulbapedia for various purposes easily without roadblocks. We have to be extremely intentional when we change headers or else it alienates those people and sends them somewhere else. Changing a large group of section headers is something that needs to be partnered with staff about. Also, due to the simple fact that booster boxes are frequently featured in this section and are not pack artworks, I will be changing all instances back to Gallery. I understand that you're upset; no one likes being told their contributions aren't great, and I've been the one to take on coaching yours when you've decided to A) make sweeping changes that cause headers to misrepresent their sections, B) insist on using machine translation that is proven false by common sense, and C) going against official sources on how items are stylized in text.

I don't need to explain myself or my successes to you. But what I will explain is the Bulbapedia:Code of conduct, and how your above comment breaks that basic agreement to have an account here. In short, don't insult people. Don't use profanity to instigate others. Be nice.
