Pokémon Adventures

History

Poliwrath debuted in Scrappy Skarmory, where it was seen with its Trainer exercising in preparation for Walker's arrival. Upon the arrival of the Legendary Pokémon Suicune, Poliwrath joined Chuck's Primeape and Walker's Skarmory in battle against it. Despite having the odd in numbers, Poliwrath and its allies weren't able to defeat the much stronger Legendary Pokémon.

Personality and characteristics

Poliwrath seems to share many traits with its Trainer; having a genuine passion for battling and training and actively trains alongside its Trainer with rigorous exercises such as push-ups.

History

Original series

Chuck's Poliwrath debuted in Machoke, Machoke Man!, being chosen as its Trainer's first Pokémon for his Gym battle against Ash, going up against Pikachu. After dodging two Thunderbolt attacks, Poliwrath gets hit with the third. As Pikachu goes in for a Quick Attack, Chuck tells Poliwrath to focus its energy. The Quick Attack has no effect on Poliwrath and Pikachu ricochets onto the ground. Chuck orders a Double Slap attack which knocks Pikachu out of the battle. Poliwrath then faces off against Bayleef, and ends up missing a Water Gun. Bayleef retaliates with Razor Leaf attack, which connects. Ash has Bayleef tangle Poliwrath up with a Vine Whip before slamming her opponent to the ground. Chuck orders Poliwrath to focus its energy, but it appears unstable on its feet. Bayleef delivers a solid Body Slam, and as the dust settles Poliwrath is unable to battle.

Pokémon Journeys: The Series

Poliwrath reappeared in Octo-Gridlock at the Gym!, where it battled Bea and her Grapploct in a training match. It later sat alongside Chuck and Goh watched her World Coronation Series rematch against Ash.

Personality and characteristics

Similar to its Trainer, Poliwrath seems to enjoy a good battle, spending a lot of time training to hone its abilities. It enjoys battling against strong opponents, such as Bea's Grapploct and Ash's Bayleef.
