I know there was an error on the reverse holo of a Forretress, where the Pineco picture on it was extremely light, but I can't remember what set it was in--BJG

Where should the misprinted Ancient Mew go? Nintendo promos? Or will there be a special section for Japanese errors?

That depends on which set that card belongs. --Jemar 08:54, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

The previous editor used opinions like VERY FEW which I don't think that would not meet the standards. Does anyone think so? --Jemar 05:09, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for improving the page! Now it will improve!--Jemar 05:42, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

Could somebody please help me again on the page because there are a lot of things that are not supposed to be there.--Jemar 07:54, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

Actually, some error cards are more common than their correct counterparts (for example, the misprinted Dark Vileplume is actually about twice as common as the correct version).--Yoshi1001 15:55, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

Let's improve it more!

We have been editing this page for a while. Yet it still does not meet the standards! Somebody please help us (me and the other editors)!

I'm looking over this page and think that, before revising further, it would be very helpful to add in a brief description of the anatomy of a Pokemon:TCG card. Perhaps a labeled image or diagram, as well. This will be especially useful for readers unfamiliar with the Pokemon TCG or TCGs in general, and who may be accessing the page to learn more about the subject. The article describes errors in specific parts of the cards--the evolution box, HP's, text, attack energy cost symbols; I don't know if there are standard names for the different sections of the cards or not, official or otherwise, but it'd be good to know before heading into this. Thoughts? -Pdrydia 19:21, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

I've seen a few Mysterious Treasures and EX Hidden Legends cards where the main box is either to far up or to far down. These include reverse-holo Maganium, Unown M, and Clamperl. -Groudon465

That would be a great idea. But, I'm not sure if we have people out there with those "error" cards? This would be a hard thing to do considering the size of those cards, I don't think that it would look good on the page. Maybe we should make the images small on the page but it is actually bigger don't you think?

Our efforts have been big and I have noticed our hard work is making this page better and better by the minute. Good Job guys! --Jemar 13:16, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
A picture of a standard, errorless card from each generation would look good (I mean like the originals, Gym, Neo, e, EX, DP, and whatever else). TTEchidna 21:35, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

  • Neo Destiny Set : «Dark Haunter's "Call Back" attack's clause leave out the word "opponent's"»
  • - Card Errors : «Dark Haunter's Call Back attack's clause leave out the word "opponent's"».

--Valepert 16:54, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Hmm... All I can say is reword it so it's not the same thing, as much as you can. Perhaps later on I'll change it all to charts. TTEchidna 19:37, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
Actually, looks like PokeZam stole the line from me: - For all intents and purposes, if it makes any difference, you have my permission to use anything I've written on or - Nick15 09:18, 25 September 2009 (UTC)

As I recall while back I saw a Rattata card that had 4000 HP instead of 40

User: ShinyMedicham

It's one of those lame fake Chinese cards. It doesn't count. - Nick15 09:11, 25 September 2009 (UTC)

Isn't it redundant to keep saying 'here is a list of error cards' in each section that has cards in it? -Sketchies 20:42, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

Old Amber

I got a copy of the Error Card..its one of the few cards I own.Good Day;DCM

Jungle Mr. Mime error -- not the standard Jungle error

I have the holo Jungle Mr. Mime. It has the Jungle symbol on it, but the spots in the petals on the logo are extremely large (so much so that in a few places, sections that are normally connected are separated). This error isn't listed here, so should this be added or is it a one-of-a-kind thing that therefore shouldn't be added? Click here for a scan comparing its logo to the normal Jungle logo. --Shiny Noctowl 04:08, 3 January 2009 (UTC)

I've certainly not seen that before. Maybe it was just a small bubble in the printing ink? Cipher (Talk) 13:25, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
So how much is it worth and should I add it to the list? --Shiny Noctowl 13:59, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
I know of the Jungle error where the symbol had gone missing on some of the later printings; perhaps the "large spots" error above is a version of the missing symbol error, like it was half printed or lightly printed. But without a picture, I can't make a proper assessment. But as someone who remembers the Jungle era and know of pretty much every error of the time, this doesn't sound familiar. It could be a "unique error" which doesn't count for Error Card purposes. - Nick15 09:10, 25 September 2009 (UTC)

DP:MT misprint?

I do have a misprinted Dodrio from mysterious treasures. It seems to be unique, and I have a scan of the card with a normal version of it. Should I show it? --Anangryzapdos 18:05, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

Pokemon Error Pics?

RustyOakley 17:47, 7 August 2010 (UTC) I sell Pokemon cards online.

I have many of the very rare errors from the base set and some from a few of the other earlier sets. Just wondering if pictures would be wanted for this page..

I have pictures for the Diglett, Butterfree, Zapdos, all 16 Jungle errors(no symbol), Blastoise, Ninetales, Corrected Vulpix, Pikachu(red cheeks first edition, unlimited, and E3!), the water energy, and all the rest but those arent actual errors just misprints.

The only one I do not have is the Wartortle which is the most expensive out of all of them!(except the Prerelease Raichu which is just annoying to think abut)

Cards like Gyarados were only printed misaligned during the 3rd run..not sure about 4th but the first two runs have it lined up correctly.

The Vulpix was only correctly displayed during the 4th run (1999-2000)

All of the cards you have listed are either errors or misprints but there is a difference. The errors are like cards such as the Ninetales where you can find both a corrected and an error version from the same run form a particualr set. Cards like Vulpix are not errors even though you can find both a corrected and an error version because the corrected version was only during the 4th run of the base set.

Here is a list of the actual errors form the base set Bastoise (3rd run only) Ninetales (2nd run only from what I know) Wartortle (definitely 3rd not sure about 4th) Diglett (3rd run) Pikachu (1st and 2nd run) Water energy (3rd run)

Each of these I can provide pictures of the error and corrected version from the same run and set.

The rest are misprints that were either corrected in a later run(the entire run) or never corrected at all

But I have pictures if they are wanted for display(actual scans) RustyOakley 17:47, 7 August 2010 (UTC)

〜Is this one of a kind? HeartGold SoulSilver Holo Error--Mrdarkrai 04:57, 19 January 2011 (UTC)

Probably far too late too ask but... any chance of knowing if that is an actual printing error or fake? Frozen Fennec 02:30, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
Printing error. It's the Cracked Ice Holofoil without the actual card printed on it. There are some with the Cosmos holofoil MaverickNate 04:23, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
Oh, thanks for answering my question then. Was looking through my card collection yesterday to see if I had any of these error cards, have a few of them. I guess that's another card to look for in the future when buying card packs. Frozen Fennec 13:02, 7 June 2012 (UTC)

Maractus error?

went and got a maractus holo at mcdonald and the height on the card is wrong while the b&w set the height was right. the correct height was 3'03" and the error was 3'07" --Funicode 02:05, 21 June 2011 (UTC)funicode

I see. It i being added in MaverickNate 02:13, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

Rare error card?

Hello! I have this Pokemon card that I can't find any information at all about it. It's the Potion trainer card. I think it might be an error card. It has the card number of "127/132" with the Majestic Dawn set logo printed on it. However, Majestic Dawn only goes up to 100 cards, not 132. The only other set that this card's card number matches to is "Secret Wonders". However, the copyright date is 2008, and Secret Wonders came out in 2007. It's kind of confusing. So, could this card I have be a double-error card? SeberHusky 01:29, 19 November 2011 (UTC)

Can you get a picture of it? (preferably a scan) MaverickNate 02:54, 19 November 2011 (UTC)
Here's a scan of the presumeably error card, and the normal non-error card. Trainer Card Error SeberHusky 03:38, 20 November 2011 (UTC)
Any updates? Is this a one of a kind card, perhaps? Like that one guy's MewTwo promo card with the upside-down logo?SeberHusky 03:42, 26 November 2011 (UTC)
It honestly seems more like a fake card than an actual error card. Do you remember how you got it? MaverickNate
It was in a lot of other Pokemon cards that I got on eBay this month that were real, official cards. This also has the standard Pokemon back design as well. It's spot-on and looks exactly like any other official card. Feels the same thickness as well.SeberHusky 04:40, 27 November 2011 (UTC)

Unown O error

Any idea why the link for the Unown O card is not linking properly? Frozen Fennec 03:36, 20 March 2013 (UTC)

It was using {{TCG}} instead of {{TCG ID}}. MaverickNate 03:42, 20 March 2013 (UTC)

Possible Energy error? Can anyone verify if that Water Energy card actually got printed? From the corner, it looks like it most likely came from the EX Ruby & Sapphire set. Frozen Fennec 19:23, 23 May 2013 (UTC)

I have an error card (I think...?)

well, I have an uxie lv X card from the legends awakened set, and the psycic eye and colorless star are so big they almost go out of their colored balls. is this an error? - unsigned comment from Natnew (talkcontribs)

I'm guessing this page only shows the most famous and common ones, because I have a Murkrow card from Undaunted that has a misprint, I know for a fact it's real, I got it from an official place, and yet it's not listed on here. Am I correct that it only shows the most common ones? Pokedex493 (talk) 02:58, 21 May 2014 (UTC)

It's an extremely tough page to keep up to date. It's intent is to list all of them, but it's a bit hard to do when so much is going on all the time. What is your Murkrow error specifically? MaverickNate 14:08, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
In the information bar underneath the artwork, its Pokédex entry, species, and other things in it are overlapped with Umbreon's. It's this Murkrow card. Pokedex493 (talk) 15:54, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
Would you be willing to take a picture of it for me to see? If what I'm thinking is true, you have a manufacturing error, which isn't quite a genuine error card. Manufacturing errors are simply the cards getting messed up in the printing presses somehow. In general, these types of errors happen constantly, but the different possibilities are pretty interesting. An overlay like the one I think you have is more uncommon and interesting, but not entirely an error that is replicated on a vast number of cards. MaverickNate 17:46, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
Correction, I took a look at it again, and it's actually not overlapped with Umbreon's information, but it is overlapped with something. It looks like 198 is mixed with 197 and the 'a' and 'n' in Murkrow's species name is mixed with 'b' and 'o.' I'll work on getting a picture taken and I'll put up the link to it when I have it. Pokedex493 (talk) 02:53, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

Ok, I don't have the card now, but I did have a Stormfront 42 Magneton card a few years ago that had a pretty hilarious error on it. The Pokédex description read (I am sad that I lack the talent to make this shit up):

"It is actually three MAGNEMITE linke by magnetism. A group can set offa mafnetic storm."

Just throwing this out there. Aidan the Aura Master 15:50, 2 July 2016 (UTC)

Spanish Potion XY errata

Hi, this is my first bulba editing, i hope i made it right! However, i dont know how to add photos (the proof, basically). Here you guys have it, feel free to make it link properly. Thanks! potion%20errata.jpg

Error on Bastiodon?

I found a Bastiodon Pokemon Card a few days ago in a restaurant, and I didn't check it until just now. I then noticed that the "Stage 1 Evolves from Shieldon" thing incorrectly showed a Picture of Klink instead of Shieldon. I do not know which deck this is from, All I know is that I believe the copy was made in 2016. DownWithMorayTowers (talk) 22:53, 10 December 2016 (UTC)DownWithMorayTowers

Suggested move

"Error cards" is a bit awkward grammatically (since "error" is not an adjective) and doesn't make its meaning entirely clear — does it mean cards with errors? cards that were never meant to be made? cards that are glitched in the TCG video games? It's not clear which of these is intended until you read the text of the article. Since "Error cards" does not appear to be an official term, I'm proposing a move to the title "Cards with errors", which makes more grammatical sense and, I believe, is a bit clearer in meaning as well. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 19:01, 10 March 2017 (UTC)

Error cards is how the fandom has always and will always refer to them. It is also how Wizards refer to this class of cards, and as they were an official compqny for cards, it is the currently most official term we have. MaverickNate 19:21, 10 March 2017 (UTC)
Then should we mention that this was once used as an official term? Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 19:47, 10 March 2017 (UTC)
Personally, I think it's summed up quite well in the first sentence of the page "Error cards are cards in the TCG that have certain elements on the card that are incorrect." Simple. Concise. I think it's fine. Laurenblackfox (talk) 19:55, 10 March 2017 (UTC)
