Splash and Punch (Japanese: 水と拳のガラルスター! Galar Stars of Water and Fists!) was a solo event in Pokémon Masters EX. It was focused on the sync pairs Nessa & Drednaw and Bea & Sirfetch'd.
The "Nessa Spotlight Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Nessa & Drednaw for the duration of the event, and the "Bea Spotlight Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Bea & Sirfetch'd from May 15 to the end of the event.
During this event, players could earn Event Vouchers F from battles that could be redeemed in the shop. All battles could be challenged an unlimited number of times except Daily Super Tough Battle!, which could only be challenged once per day. Extra vouchers were automatically exchanged with coins once the event was finished.
The player could battle using Nessa & Drednaw, Bea & Sirfetch'd, or Raihan & Duraludon to obtain +0.6× bonus vouchers; Piers & Obstagoon to obtain +0.4× bonus vouchers; and Scottie/Bettie & Pikachu or Scottie/Bettie & Torchic to obtain +0.2× bonus vouchers.
This event introduced the Battle Challenge, where players were challenged to defeat a team of strong opponents. Players could complete event missions by clearing these areas with teams using various theme skills, earning medals and other rewards.
Plot
At the Pokémon Center, Misty and Maylene introduce the player to Nessa and Bea, two Gym Leaders from the Galar region. Bea tells the player that she is eager to learn from the Elite Four members and Champions who are on Pasio, and Nessa teases her for being so dedicated. Turning to the others, Misty enthuses over Nessa's impressive swimming skills, as well as her career as a model. Nessa thanks Misty, then tells the player that her plan on Pasio is to show everyone her strength in a Pokémon battle, since she has already accomplished her first goal of making some new friends. Bea chimes in to add that she would also like to battle, but instead to see how dedicated all of the Trainers are.
After the battles, the player and the other four run into Raihan at the Pokémon Center. When he asks Nessa and Bea about their thoughts on Pasio, Nessa says she is impressed with the strength of the Trainers, while Bea is happy to have a place to improve herself. Misty and Maylene both gush about the others’ battling skills, and Nessa suggests going out for some food to celebrate winning over their approval. After nearly revealing her excitement for getting some sweets, Bea tells them that she is looking forward to eating some healthy food. Nessa chuckles and suggests that everyone should go "replenish their sugar reserves," causing them all to laugh.
