Powder and spore move
(Redirected from Powder and spore moves)

A powder and spore move (Japanese: 粉や胞子の技 powder and spore move) is any move that is based on powders or spores. Powder and spore moves have some unique properties and effects. The mechanic was introduced in Generation VI.
Powder and spore moves like Poison Powder have existed since Generation I, but in Pokémon X and Y, powders and spores became a mechanic.
In the games
In the core series games, powder and spore moves have the following effects:
- Pokémon with the Overcoat Ability are unaffected by other Pokémon's powder and spore moves.
- Grass-type Pokémon are unaffected by other Pokémon's powder and spore moves.
- If a Pokémon holding a Safety Goggles is hit by a powder and spore move, the move will fail.
While not an inherent property of powder and spore moves, all powder and spore moves are status moves.
