Pikachu's Indonesia Journey is a special event campaign under the Pokémon Air Adventures project which features the Pokémon mascot Pikachu, designed to bring people together through travel and exploration. It combined Pokémon gameplay with the cultural and scenic attractions of Indonesia.
There are several event-specific merchandises, including a special Pikachu Wearing a Batik Shirt Pokémon card, marking the first Indonesian-themed Pokémon card release. Several Pokémon-themed activities were hosted at the various venues, including gameplay showcases, and interactive events such as a Pokémon parade and cultural performances.[1]

Event Information
Each event featured a variety of activities available free of charge for both adults and children. Special Pokémon TCG Academia sessions were held at every Pikachu's Indonesia Journey event, allowing guests to learn the fundamentals of the Pokémon Trading Card Game.[3] Pokémon Meet & Greets were scheduled sessions where attendees could take photographs with a Pikachu mascot dressed in special batik attire. These mascots also participated in various Pikachu Parade & Mini Dance Shows hosted throughout the events. Designated photo spots were set up at each location, allowing guests to take pictures with collages featuring various Pokémon. Special sections of each venue were also dedicated to playing various episodes from Pokémon Horizons: The Series. Pokémon GO booths were hosted at many of the events, enabling attendees to take part in exclusive in-game activities. For younger visitors, the Pokémon Kids Carnival offered a selection of Pokémon-themed carnival games and coloring classes. At select venues, Pokémon Mezastar machines were also made available.[4] A special TCG Exhibition was held at the PIK Avenue event in Jakarta.[5]
The Bali and Jakarta events additionally featured special concerts with special live performances and unique shows such as a Pikachu EDM concert and a Pikachu Splash Show where water was sprayed at guests.[6] The Indonesian pop group JKT48 performed at the Lapangan Puputan Niti Mandala Denpasar event in Bali. They were joined by solo performers, Vidi Aldiano and Isyana Sarasvati at the Community Park PIK 2 venue.[7] A special Splash Show was presented in Bali, while the Jakarta event included a drone show presented by Skymagic.[8]
During the campaign, several Pokémon Run events were held as a follow up to Pokémon Run event held during the Pokémon Festival Jakarta. The series of marathon events started in Denpasar and continued to several other major cities. There were two categories, the 5km Fun Run and the 3km Family Run.[3]

As part of the event campaign in Bali, Hotel Nikko Bali Benoa Beach offered Pokémon-themed rooms, decorated with Pikachu and other Pokémon, enhancing the immersive experience for attendees.[9] The reservation was available to booked for 2 adult attendees on February 15, 2024 and can be held on March 1, 2024 for 3 days minimum.[10] The attendees may also receive the Pokémon souvenirs, including 2 SVD Starter Decks, (ex Compact Decks), a Balinese special edition tumbler, and a Balinese special edition drawstring pocket. The event emphasizes Balinese culture with performances, decorations, and a focus on the unique heritage of Indonesia. The activities include parades featuring costumed Pikachu, traditional performances, and interactive Pokémon experiences. By integrating these cultural elements, the event aims to boost tourism, with local businesses, hotels, and food vendors expected to benefit from the increased influx of visitors.[11]
Pokémon GO
Special Pokémon GO events were held in the following major Indonesian hubs:
- The first event, Pikachu’s Indonesia Journey: Bali, was held on March 2 and 3, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. local time, in Lapangan Puputan Niti Mandala Denpasar and Living World Denpasar, Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia.
- The second event, Pikachu’s Indonesia Journey: Surabaya, was held on May 11 and 12, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. local time, in Pakuwon Mall Surabaya, Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia.
- The third event, Pikachu’s Indonesia Journey: Yogyakarta, was held on August 24 and 25, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. local time, in Pakuwon Mall Jogja, Yogyakarta, Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
- The fourth event under the title Pokémon GO City Safari: Jakarta was held on September 21 and 22, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. local time, in PIK Avenue and Community Park PIK2, Jakarta, Jakarta, Indonesia.
- The fifth event, Pikachu’s Indonesia Journey: Medan, was held on April 25 to 27, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. local time, in DeliPark Mall Medan, Medan, North Sumatra, Indonesia.
- The sixth event, Pikachu’s Indonesia Journey: Bekasi, was held on June 27 to 29, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. local time, in Pakuwon Mall Bekasi, Bekasi, West Java, Indonesia.
Its tickets cost 150,000 IDR (approximately $9.64 USD) for the events in Bali, Surabaya, and Yogyakarta or 125,000 IDR (approximately $8.62 USD) for the event in Jakarta, as a requirement to access exclusive in-game content, such as Mega Raids and special rewards. No ticket payment required for the event in Medan and Bekasi.

UTme! Pikachu's Indonesia Journey was a UTme! collection from Uniqlo released exclusively in Indonesia. It served as a brand tie-in with the Pikachu's Indonesia Journey campaign and features Pikachu Balik, the mascot of the campaign.[12] The collection features both wearable T-shirts as well as stamps that can be printed on a variety of different merchandise such as bags or sweaters. It released on November 11, 2024. A second wave was released on November 28, 2025 featuring City Badges of various landmarks of Indonesia.
