Morty's Secret Ghost Training (Japanese: マツバとゴースト修行 Ghost Training with Matsuba) was a solo event in Pokémon Masters EX. It was focused on the sync pair Morty & Drifblim.
During this event, players could earn event vouchers from battles that could be redeemed in the shop. Extra vouchers were automatically exchanged with coins once the event was finished.
This event featured the Full-Force Battle, where players were challenged to defeat a large group of strong opponents. Similar to the Legendary Arena, players could use multiple teams with a limited number of total sync pairs, with the opponents' health carrying over between rounds and with previously used pairs unable to be used again until the challenge is reset. Medals could be earned by completing specific missions.
First run
The event first ran from July 15 to 28, 2020. The "Morty Spotlight Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Morty & Drifblim for the duration of the event.
In this run, battles rewarded players with both Event Vouchers B and various items to unlock sync pairs' level caps, with more difficult battles awarding rarer items. Completing Full-Force Battle! Round 1 and Full-Force Battle! Round 2 for the first time rewarded players with a 4★ Power-Up and a 5★ Power-Up, respectively.
Second run
The event reran from May 23 to June 6, 2022. The "Triple Feature Spotlight Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Morty & Drifblim, Allister & Gengar, and Fantina & Mismagius for the duration of the event.
In this run, battles only rewarded players with Event Vouchers D. In addition, the first-time rewards for the Full-Force Battles were changed to a 3★ Support Move Candy and a 4★ Tech Move Candy, respectively.
The player could battle using Morty & Drifblim to obtain +0.6× bonus vouchers; Allister & Gengar, Fantina & Mismagius, or Phoebe & Dusclops/Dusknoir to obtain +0.4× bonus vouchers; and any unlisted Ghost-type sync pairs to obtain +0.2× bonus vouchers.
In addition to the medals available in the Full-Force Battles, players could earn a medal for obtaining 2,000 Event Vouchers D.
Plot
Morty greets the player, telling them how he has not lost a Pokémon battle yet. Sensing that the player is wondering what his secret to victory is, he tells them about the secret training he does and invites them to join in. It is designed with Ghost-type users in mind, but the player is welcome to come along and bring other sync pairs, as Morty thinks interacting with many different people and Pokémon will help his training. After all, he plans to continue his training until he discovers a new future for himself.

Trivia
- This was the first solo event that allowed players to earn medals.
- This was the first solo event to include a Full-Force Battle.
- This event featured Poison-weak opponents, despite the featured sync pair not being a Poison-type nor knowing any Poison-type moves. This might have been to coincide with the Poison-type Training Event that was ongoing when this event debuted.
- During the second run of this event, one of the sync pairs featured in the event scout was Allister and Gengar, a pair which knows both Poison-type and Ghost-type moves. This made them more effective for this event than the featured sync pair.
