Blurb
As Liko and her Pokémon gear up for more training at Blueberry Academy, Hattrem offers its food to Charcadet and then steps away when Meowscarada wants Liko’s attention. Liko starts to wonder if Hattrem is dissatisfied with its role on her team, but Ann has another theory.
Plot
Liko and her Pokémon are having breakfast in the cafeteria when Ann arrives with a suggestion they go look for Ditto Blocks for a Blueberry Quest. Liko agrees to the idea, wanting to find a training opponent for Charcadet. However, after seeing Hattrem give up her food to Charcadet and her Trainer's attention to Meowscarada, Ann frowns at the Serene Pokémon's consideration. Later, as Ann explains how hunting for Ditto Blocks work, Liko ends up finding one and Charcadet is fired up to battle it. Meowscarada uses her flower stem to stop the Pokémon from escaping, but Hattrem pleads for the Magician Pokémon to let it go. Afterwards, the group splits up to find more Ditto Blocks around the Terarium, with a Shiny one being found by Meowscarada with Hattrem's help. Ann then proposes her Samurott as an opponent for Charcadet, leading to a battle where Liko thinks about how to help the Fire Child Pokémon improve. After some rounds, Ann asks for a break and Liko decides to ask Hattrem to assist her with making sandwiches. However, Meowscarada also enlists Hattrem's help in reining in their teammate, who still wants to battle, which the latter is all too happy to do. Before she goes, Liko tells Hattrem to do what makes her happy so that she would stop holding back, but Ann is bothered greatly by Liko's words.
Meowscarada and Charcadet admiring the newly evolved Hatterene
While the Pokémon battle and the girls make sandwiches, Ann reveals since she is the middle child in her family, people often thought she doesn't get to do what she wants, much like how Liko assumed was the case with Hattrem earlier. She says it is not the case as she would do anything to make her siblings happy because she loves them, making Liko realize she had misunderstood Hattrem. Ann calls over Hattrem for Liko, and the Serene Pokémon helps her to make sandwiches as planned. As they were eating, Liko tells her partner how she feels. Ever since they met when she was a Hatenna, Liko had been worried about her, but the latter had always found a way to make someone happy because she sensed their feelings until now. Liko is apologetic for not realizing it sooner, but expresses her own happiness at having Hattrem with her, causing the Pokémon to shed tears of happiness of her own before sharing a hug with her Trainer. Overwhelmed with happiness, Hattrem unexpectedly evolves into Hatterene.
Liko, Ann, and their Pokémon watching the diamond dust
Everyone enjoys the sandwiches while the girls talk about Hatterene, with Liko finding out more about her on the Pokédex. Hatterene returns with three Ditto Blocks hidden under her hair, to Liko's surprise as she didn't notice her leaving. This motivates Ann to try harder in finding Ditto Blocks and she leaves Liko to search for them. Liko tries to rally her Pokémon, but a Ditto that Hatterene caught earlier wanders into a cave, prompting the group to follow it. A cry from inside makes the group rush to Ditto's aid as wildTynamo and Eelektrik close in on the Transform Pokémon. Charcadet steps up to the plate and Liko has it use Ember to negate an attack from an Eelektrik. Meowscarada and Hatterene support their teammate by warning the Fire Child Pokémon when many Tynamo try to sneak an attack from behind. In the process, Liko observes how Charcadet's firing speed has increased, allowing it to use Ember in rapid succession and defeat all the wild Pokémon inside the cave. Meowscarada also manages to rescue Ditto with her flower stem and gives it to Hatterene to comfort it. Before they could escape though, a wild Eelektross shows up and blocks their exit. Liko is worried about getting through, but Hatterene decides to confront the EleFish Pokémon. She intimidates Eelektross with her aura before repeatedly attacking it with her newly learned Psycho Cut and healing it with Heal Pulse. Her repeated actions intimidate Eelektross even more and, out of fear, it allows Liko's group to exit the cave, where Ann is waiting.
Ann notes how possessive Meowscarada and Hatterene are of Liko now and refuses to back down, revealing she has a surprise for her close friend. From above, small specks of light fall, and Ann explains it is called diamond dust and that she had asked them to recreate it so that Liko could see it. Having seen Liko hide her concerns before, Ann was worried but she feels Liko is fine now that she's surrounded by people and Pokémon who love her, with Ann saying that she loves Liko more than anyone else does. The next morning, Roy and Dot tell Liko about Briar finally finishing her research on Pagogo, making the group curious as to what she found out.
