April 1, 2019 was an April Fools' Day that fell on a Monday. In the Pokémon fandom, some websites pulled hoaxes on gullible fans.
Hoaxes
Pokémon GO
- Available until April 3rd, Ash or a Pikachu wearing Ash's hat can appear as a photobomb as part of a cross-promotion including a GO Snapshot challenge held by TV Tokyo.[1]
Pokémon Duel
- A [UX] Bidoof figure was added which appeared in opponent decks in a special Queen's Cup as part of an "AI-generated rebalancing" due to [C] Bidoof's low win rate.[2][3] Players who had started the game prior to the end of the event were given Bibarel as a Commemorative Figure from April 2, 2019 to April 5, 2019.
Aesthetic changes
- The Bulbagarden forums were changed to display googly eyes on the forum skin and staff badges.
- Pokémon Central Wiki changed its homepage saying that Scraggy would have become its mascot[4].
