TV Tokyo (株式会社テレビ東京, Kabushiki Gaisha Terebi Tōkyō) is a TV station based in Tokyo, Japan. TV Tokyo is located in the Minato destrict (Japanese: 港区 Minato-ku) of Tokyo. Its current president is Shimada Masayuki.
TV Tokyo was launched on April 12, 1964 as Tokyo Channel 12 Production, Ltd. (Japanese: 株式会社東京12チャンネルプロダクション, Kabushiki Kaisha Tōkyō 12 Channeru Purodakushon). In 1973, the station changed its name to Tokyo Channel 12, Ltd.. Another name change in 1983 gave the station its current name, Television Tokyo Channel 12, Ltd. (Japanese: 株式会社テレビ東京, Kabushiki Kaisha Terebi Tōkyō).
TV Tokyo is currently the smallest of the major Tokyo TV networks, and is known for its specialization in anime. In 2014, TV Tokyo celebrated its 50th anniversary. TV Tokyo has been airing the Pokémon anime since it began in 1997. New episodes of the current Pokémon Journeys: The Series are aired most Sundays at 6:00 PM JST (9:00 AM UTC/4:00 AM EST).
Starting with the first episode of Pokémon the Series: Black & White, the broadcast of the Pokémon anime on TV Tokyo uses data broadcasting.
