The Reassembly Unit (Japanese: リボーンマシーン Reborn Machine) is a machine that assembles a Zygarde from Zygarde Cells and Cores. It is located in the Aether Base on Route 16 in Alola.
In the games
The Reassembly Unit can only be used in conjunction with the Zygarde Cube. In Pokémon Sun and Moon, the Zygarde Cube is obtained before reaching Route 16, so the Reassembly Unit can be used immediately. In Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, the player must catch Zygarde in Resolution Cave first; after this, Sina will give the player the Zygarde Cube if they defeat Dexio in the Reassembly Unit's trailer.
The Reassembly Unit has two main functions: Assembly and Separation.
The Reassembly Unit will not perform any operations on a Zygarde with Power Construct. The Zygarde Cube can freely change the form of a Power Construct Zygarde between 10% Forme and 50% Forme.
Assembly
The Reassembly Unit can assemble a Zygarde using Cells and Cores from the Zygarde Cube. This can either be done with only the Zygarde Cube, to create a brand new Zygarde (at level 30 before becoming Champion, or level 50 after); or with the Zygarde Cube and a Zygarde already in the player's party, adding Cells and Cores to upgrade its form without affecting other data.
The form that the Reassembly Unit will assemble depends on the number of Cells and Cores in the Zygarde Cube. Assembly will always use the greatest number of Cells and Cores that it can from the Zygarde Cube:
- 10 Cells/Cores: Zygarde 10% Forme with Aura Break
- 50 Cells/Cores: Zygarde 50% Forme with Aura Break
- 100 Cells/Cores: Zygarde 50% Forme with Power Construct
In-game, the Reassembly Unit refers to the amounts it will use in percent values, but this is based on the assumption that the Zygarde Cube can only hold 100 Cells and Cores, when it can in fact hold more. That is, if the Zygarde Cube holds 200 Cells and Cores, it will still use only 100 to create a Power Construct Zygarde, not 100% (all 200).
If a Zygarde from the player's party is combined with Cells and Cores from the Zygarde Cube, the assembly will require fewer Cells and Cores in accordance with the Zygarde's form (e.g., upgrading a 10% Forme Zygarde to 50% Forme will only require 40 Cells and Cores).
Separation
The Reassembly Unit can separate a Zygarde into Cells and Cores and store them in the Zygarde Cube. The Reassembly Unit will not be able to separate a Zygarde if it has a Classic Ribbon. Separating a Zygarde is much the same as releasing a Pokémon: it is essentially lost, including any moves it learned or Ribbons it earned.
The Reassembly Unit can separate a Zygarde even if it is an outsider. This can be exploited to store up to 999 Cells and Cores in the Zygarde Cube. The Reassembly Unit can still separate Zygarde even if the Zygarde Cube is at its maximum capacity, but it will not affect the number of stored Cells and Cores.

The Reassembly Unit first appeared in Darkness!! The Mysterious Claws of Necrozma!. Sina and Dexio took Samson Oak to Route 16 and introduced him to the Reassembly Unit. They planned on using the machine to change Zygarde's form in hopes of preventing a disaster that could only be stopped with 100% of Zygarde's power.
In Ray of Light!! Through the Crack in the Sky!, the Zygarde Cells gathered by Sun flew into the Reassembly Unit before heading to Mount Lanakila to battle Necrozma.
