Out-of-battle effect items are held items that take effect outside of battle.

List of out-of-battle effect items

In the anime

A Soothe Bell first appeared in the anime in Showdown At Linoone as one of the items Tokin had picked up.

Soothe Bells appeared in Smells Like Team Spirit! as the prize for winning the Hearthome City Tag Battle Competition; due to being a Tag Battle competition, the prize was two Soothe Bells, one for each winner. Ash and Paul won them; however, Paul did not want his, so Ash is in possession of both. Ash's Soothe Bells made an appearance at the start of In The Shadow of Zekrom!, on Ash's desk along with various other gifts and prizes he received in the Sinnoh region.

In Stopped in the Name of Love!, Dawn received an Everstone from Nurse Joy, giving it to her Piplup to prevent him from evolving until he changes his mind.

Virgil used a Soothe Bell in Lost at the League! to calm down a Garbodor and a group of Trubbish.

In (Violent) Earthquake! Cyrus's Consuming Ambition!!, it was revealed that Mitsumi had secretly attached an Everstone to Hareta's Piplup before he started his journey, because she had thought Hareta would learn faster with weaker Pokémon. After Mitsumi removed it, Piplup immediately evolved into Prinplup, then into Empoleon.

In the TCG

A Soothe Bell appeared in the artwork for Pikachu (BW-P Promo 120).
