Meteor Cave (Japanese: 隕石洞窟 Meteorite Cave) is a dungeon in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX that contains 20 floors. It is home to Deoxys.

Meteor Cave was created when rocks from the destroyed meteor crashed into a mountain. The morning after Lugia is defeated in Silver Trench, Blastoise reports discovering the cave to Xatu, who then gives the cave its name. The partner then suggests the rescue team investigates it.

Gameplay

Generation III

In the original games, only the leader is allowed to enter, and only money is found in the dungeon. A maximum of three items may be carried into the dungeon at once. However, this does not include the player's held item. One random Deoxys form is created on every floor when the leader enters: Attack, Speed, or Defense. The random Deoxys must be defeated to unlock the stairs down. The Normal Deoxys is on the 20th floor, and it is the only one that can be recruited. After Deoxys is recruited, the player gains access to the Enclosed Island Friend Area, of which Deoxys is the only inhabitant.

Floors 1-5 are shrouded in darkness, limiting field of view to 2 tiles in hallways, while floors 6-19 are shrouded in heavy darkness, limiting field of view to just 1 tile in hallways.

Generation VIII

In the remake, up to 3 Pokémon can enter the dungeon, and there are no restrictions on items brought in the dungeon. Rescue is not available in the case of defeat in this dungeon. The Normal Deoxys, that spawns on every floor in the room containing the stairs, must be defeated in order to unlock the stairs down. In addition, multiple random Deoxys forms spawn as mirages on every floor to attack the player: Attack, Speed, or Defense. Monster Houses that spawn will contain these mirage forms.

On the 20th floor, Normal Deoxys appears as a boss, and is surrounded by 3 mirages, one of each of its other forms. If the mirages are defeated, 3 more appear within the following turn. Upon beating Normal Deoxys, Deoxys is recruited and the player gains access to the Enclosed Island Rescue Team Camp.

After clearing Meteor Cave for the first time, the stairs will no longer be sealed and Normal Deoxys no longer spawns.
